North Korea Fires Two “Unidentified Projectiles” Into East Sea

North Korea has apparently fired two ‘unidentified projectiles’ into the East Sea, according to Sky News. South Korea remains on alert, monitoring for any signs of a third launch. Preliminary data is showing a flight of approximately 270 miles, consistent with the short range missiles that were revealed in May of this year.

This is a developing situation and given the incident with South Korea and the joint Chinese-Russian military exercise, both North Korean allies, more could follow.

And we just finished the U.S. Navy Hellfire missiles tests on Littoral Combat Ship.
They didn’t shoot at anyone and it was in their own place so what am I missing?

It’s significant for a couple of reasons, primarily timing. They’re taking advantage of the manufactured drama in Washington as well as the tense situation (that’s going mostly ignored in our press) between South Korea and Russia.

While I can’t confirm it, the missiles that were unveiled in May bear a strong resemblance to the Kalibr missiles that have been at the center of the withdrawal from the Intermediate Nuclear Weapons treaty. The North Koreans have advanced their missile technology by about a decade in just two years- quite a feat for an nation at that level of poverty. But their weapons are significant not so much for the test but for the strategy they represent. The weapon’s versatility and short range could be potentially devastating to the Carrier Strike Group, especially when coupled with an Electronic Warfare attack that both the Russians and Chinese have been successfully experimenting with.

All they need now is a container ship or two, load a nuke tipped missile or two up, head to the gulf or west coast, and cook on off over CONUS, and shazam, major league EMP w the follow on consequences…kill the crew, scuttle the ships, no trace to be found or damn hard to find…

We would not be able to detect and defend fast enough to defeat that….

Not that i believe they are crazy enough to actually do that….
