Coronavirus: Scenes from a NE Warehouse Club

This was as of 11:30am on 3/14/2020. I went in not really planning on getting things and walked out spending $184. Go figure. But it was very interesting to see what went and what did not at this point. People seem to have emphasis on milk and meat despite the fact that 1) milk does not last long, and 2) I doubt most have enough freezer room (luckily the first major purchase I made after moving to my current AO was a chest freezer for that exact reason). Most of my purchases were things you wouldn’t think of at first – V8, powdered Gatorade, and comfort foods like chocolate. There was FINALLY evidence of the OTC medicine going – the big bottles of Moltrin were gone, as was a lot of Tylenol. I picked up a few last minute food, beverage and drug purchases and split. chatting up a clerk, they said it was an absolute madhouse in the morning. When I arrived, it was busy, but two things stuck out: 1) only one of the three entrances were unlocked, and 2) there were ropes leading people there, suggesting a rush that they wanted to control.

Given that my job is moving towards a “Work from Home” for at least the next two weeks, this was probably one of the last forays out into the public realm. I will probably go tomorrow to fill up my five 5-gallon gas cans and exchange my propane containers and then move towards an isolation on Monday (unless I run out of beer, of course). My better half still works in an interaction-with-the-public job, but that is the only disease vector we face. Ironically, she is currently dealing with a 24 hour stomach bug with the exact opposite symptoms of COVID-19 – nausea, no fever, no cough – but is currently sleeping it off.

    Why do people panic buy?

Just read the articles here. Oh, and let’s not forget the anti-Trump establishment that is more than happy to participate by telling people not to go to work, kids not to go to school, and basically root for any and all activities that will slow down the economy. I am so glad I bought a shit ton of stocks yesterday.

No one is disputing that much. A lot of people lost everything they have this week. Next week, who knows?

So you don’t care about any of this. Good, get gone. But before you go, I have a question for you, retiree, up on your high horse.

Explain how the social consequences are nothing to be concerned about. Explain how those same Leftists you are pointing out will not use this to their advantage beyond the simplistic goal you’re pointing out. Perhaps the fear they are fomenting has a logical end state?

You’re more than welcome to have THAT conversation. Its because you don’t have an answer for that question. Its because the big picture is and has always been creating the conditions of revolution. And if you or any other so-called conservative actually understood what that means, you should be very concerned about what comes next.

The Leftists that make up my age demographic, the millennials, have a strong distaste for the baby boom generation. Keep telling yourself that the killing fields can’t or won’t happen here.

Exactly this. They will use this as a method to lobby for Universal Basic Income, socialized medicine, etc. They will use this as a method to call for more government.

I haven’t been to Costco since last Friday… they had the limit signs up then. Almost everything was in stock, even if limited/rationed. Last Saturday I went to a local grocery chain (Market Street) which wasn’t really that busy or OOS on anything. I did a “top off” of various pantry items.

Last night (almost a week later) I needed to go out and pick up some basic items, fruit, etc… holy cow! I found empty shelves @ pasta, rice, water (partially) the meat counter, all bleach, alcohol and peroxide. I stopped to snap a few pictures and the Store Director happened by… we chatted about the situation, during which she made the correct observation that it looked like I was picking up a few perishables and not “stocking up” and then said she’d been working for MS for 20+ years and had NEVER seen this kind of run. She then shook her head and said that if I was a MS regular, I knew this was not how they kept their store (it’s normally very neat and well stocked) and that as she walked around she said it looked like an WalMart at the first of the month.

I then bumped into our Dentist. Very level headed and pleasant guy. I know his wife is from rural Kentucky, IE, a farm girl. Apparently they’ve let the farm mentality slip because based on what I saw them searching for and putting on their cart, they were trying to “stock up” with limited success as I mentioned, many shelves were bare/thinly stocked. If that’s indicative of the more rational public, we’re in for worse and soon…

The only positive is that the Store Director said the trucks are coming and are cubed out, but sales are insane, so they are falling further and further out of stock.

Oh yes, starting today there was going to be police in the stores. They had a report of a fight at the Target up the road a couple of miles (same town) over TP that required police to respond. Despite the bare shelves and lack of meat (some produce OOS, no potatoes) the shoppers were calm and civil. This is in a moderately well off suburb in North Texas. What it’s like or going to be like in EFT country or in the cities, God only knows.

Thank you for this report! This is super interesting. Another post will be going up Monday asking for reader reports again, so share any updates there! God Bless!

Things were similar at our local Sam’s Club on Thursday, I took some pics and posted them as well. The meat was a bit hard to understand for me as well, I have plenty of freezer space but most people simply don’t so I assume a lot of chicken is going to end up going bad.

In reply to Scout, or actually and addition to Scout’s comment to retired. They already are pulling levers of Commu/Fascism. They are setting up check points “for testing purposes.” They are shutting sown travel to other trading partner countries. They are advocating isolation, which history proves is a powerful tool to get folk to not organize against them. Deblasio says, “the Federal government needs to take over certain means of production, how commie is that? Cuomo is using forced labor to make hand sanitizer to guard against market forces. This is interesting because that is what the NAZI CEOs said they were doing so they shouldn’t be prosecuted at Nuremberg. They have sent military into several states to assist. Assist What?! It’s a flipping virus!

In short; they are crashing the market, dividing the masses, martialing said masses, taking over production, and using slave labor to do it.

That doesn’t even include the Illinois mayor that is unilaterally prohibiting gun and ammo sales.

WW1 was really about untenable trade agreements between several countries. Yes, shooting the Archduke sparked it, but it was smoldering long before that. Then the power brokers saw fit to insinuate themselves in the rebuilding of Germany and one suggestion was the League of Nations. More important England and France were literally forcing Germany to give up their resources and starving the Germans outright. That gave Hitler the impetus to build his evil empire. All the while behind the scenes the Russians were doing a little evil of their own. It took the Stock Market crash to bring Hitler into play. What I’m getting at is, all the pieces have been put into play long before now. Consider the regulations that keep up from producing our own meds, now China is threatening a shut down of our meds to the US.

All the pieces that led to WW1 and WW2 are in place right now, and the Leftists aren’t even hiding it anymore. I know this 1+2=3.

BTW, I have a story about how the first person to start testing for this virus was stopped from doing so. Think about that for a sec retired.
