There is another method for behind the back. For fat zip ties, zip cuffs, and duct tape, you can sit on your hands, open your elbows, and drop your butt inside your wrists on the ties or tape. You might hurt yourself(Zip cuffs break the skin). But you are already in a rough situation. You’ll be ok. Make sure to work the ties, cuffs, or tape up as high as possible on your forearms(Using your Ulna and Radius, not your wrist joint). Working up a sweat, or pissing on them and using that as lubricant is your best method for ties that are too tight. It’s really your only hope. If you cannot pee on you cuffs, pee on the ground and suck some piss into your mouth off the ground, you can spray it into the cuffs. That’s the best way to get them soaking wet.

This also works frontside with your knees. It’s the FASTEST way. And can be done totally naked, which you will be (Don’t ask)

If you use your wrist joint, you are gonna have a bad day. You will feel them pop and dislocate because you are dropping the better part of 400-500 ft pounds of force on your wrists. It hurts. Believe me. You won’t do that twice.

They should pop on the first try if you give it a good go. Also, If you don’t have a corner, you can fray rope, line, tape, or zip cuffs on nearly any surface. If you FAIL on the first try. Man up and hit it right. You can also use your damn teeth if you have any left.

The longer you wait, your muscles will cramp, and you will be slow running away. If you can even run or fight. You will cramp like you have never cramped before.

And be quick about it. Practice NOW. You are a hostage, not a captive. They want you alive for a reason, mostly so they don’t end up JDAM or rocket bait. Or to get information out of you. Which will be painful in more ways then one, because you will break, and tell them all about your friends, location, defenses, running passwords, frequencies, and supplies.

Plan your escape out of the room before you pop your ties, they are probably watching you on camera. You have 10 seconds before life gets hard again. 10 seconds is a LONG time in a fight.

If you get “Put around the pole” IE you have your legs indian style around a 4-6 inch pipe, you will have to stand up first and that is VERY difficult to do. It’s nearly impossible because you cannot shift your center of gravity forward and you keep failing down thanks to gravity. Too many attempts will induce muscle failure on even the most fit of soldiers. Breath, relax, get motivated, and try your best. If you fail, don’t feel too bad. Some body types cannot achieve the proper shift in their center of gravity. It’s physically impossible. But at least try.

I haven’t done any SERE in 10 years. I am sure I forgot something. BUT THIS IS 100% THE FASTEST WAY. You can bust this out right in front of your captors and put the hurting on them if you have it in you. I have seen many men “pop out”, and choke out MANY trained soldiers who KNEW what was gonna happen. It is VERY possible to achieve. Never despair and always remember, when you get back to base, we have a rifle, compass, and a map waiting for you. Then it’s payback time.

Whatever you do, don’t antagonize your captors. They will make you regret it. This isn’t a movie. Keep the “one liners” to yourself.

    Good luck.
