It’s been a bad weekend for privacy. First there was the PGP problem, and Electronic Frontier Foundation told people to stop using email encryption. Go use Signal, they said (that’s a whole other discussion).
There’s just one problem — security researcher Alfredo Ortega found an issue in Signal desktop too.

It’s not the first time that there have been problems with Signal, even though it’s considered the best option out there. Signal immediately pushed an update for the issue, and if you use Signal on desktop then you probably already installed the update. Grugq, however, has some pertinent advice.
Use Signal*, Use Tor.
* terms and conditions apply, not applicable to Signal-desktop.

In other words, ditch Signal desktop.
