It’s that time of year again, when many of us are out looking to fill our freezers for the winter with hunted game. If you’ve been at it a while, chances are good you already know all the little tips and tricks that go along with cooking things like venison, which is a lot less forgiving than beef or pork. Sure, there are cookbooks out there, but I can tell you from experience that some of those recipes are just not all they’re cracked up to be. Oddly enough, one of the best tasting, juicy, tender venison roasts I ever had came from a friend of mine, who told me that a packet of Lipton Onion Soup Mix in the crockpot made all the difference. She wasn’t kidding — that was some amazing meat, and it was beyond simple.

We want to hear your recipes for big game (or even small game) food. If you’ve learned something along the way that makes processing or cooking your game easier, pass on the knowledge to the rest of the AP community. Feel free to submit your one prized recipe, or several of them if you’re already accomplished at it. It can be as simple as a roast in the crockpot or as advanced as you like.
