Some training and practice thoughts.

It’s easy to get wrapped up in a square/flat range mentality in our training. Sometimes we have to stop and make sure we’re practicing things relevant to what we’ll be doing in a real 360 deg world.

Hawkeye makes strong valid points about reloading rifles in different circumstances.
I just want to add a thought that came to me right at the beginning. Regarding shooting from cover, (in this case over the logs or around the bottom side), a lot will depend on if you are with a fire team, or solo. If solo, a rifleman must beware of finding too perfect of a spot with a limited firing lane, focusing on one perceived threat/noise/enemy, lest other stealthy enemies maneuver wide around him unawares. If solo, the shooter must not stay in that one perfect shooting spot too long. He must keep moving to retain all-around situational awareness and avoid being flanked.

Thanks Hawk, things to think about and a good example of when a video is very helpful.Pointing out keeping track of mags when safe a good thought and though available now the days of the 8 dollar mag shipped could end at any time,(things get tough enuff the days of anything being shipped could be done).

On a side note, the story you did a audio book on is at moment avaliable on the AR15 forum that now seems to be run by Brownells, will be interesting to see how that works in the future.

Thank you for this lesson. I was taught a dump pouch should be an included part of one’s second line gear to store spent magazines.

I like to practice with and without a dump pouch, as it might not always be practical/appropriate.
