No sensing technology is a panacea.  At best, sensing technologies can only extend human senses under certain boundary conditions.  Outside those boundary conditions, they are a hinderance.  Video cameras are a ubiquitous electronic surveillance technology, but they can be jammed.  Facial recognition algorithms can also be deceived.  (Then again, sometimes they are very accurate).

Every electronic surveillance tool has a countermeasure and usually a cheap one.  Always remember that.
