Fighting Carbine: Course Review

Its always an honor to get student feedback and I post it when I can. The Way of the Warrior is in training. -NCS

Scout,

Just wanted to say thinks for the training. The information and training drills were so much more than I expected. I liked the fact that you weren’t big on all the flash and fancy speed drills that so many others are teaching. I believe you gave us a damn solid foundation to build on and to be able to take what we learned and teach others at home. You taught us how to do work and be effective with just a small amount of training. Speaking for myself, I gained a hell of a lot of confidence in myself to train and be a force to be reckoned with. I am a firm believer now that if you are just buying guns and ammo and not training then you will be a waste when something actually happens. Look forward to training with you again soon and me and Jay will keep it up on our side.

Thanks again,

Mike D

What is your training schedule looking like?

I would like to ask for personal advice. I am 63 years old and moved from Southern California to Northern Idaho. I brought with me firearms that I already owned, one of which is an AR 15. Most of my training before I left was on the pistol range and on an outdoor rifle range, learning how to zero and shoot steel targets 200 yards away with the AR. Now that I’m settled in I want to resume my training. What type of training should a guy with no military or law-enforcement experience seek? I ask as a practical matter. Clearly I benefited from an Appleseed Project course, learning how to find a natural point of aim and use of the sling. Where in northern Idaho would you recommend more training? Thank you. I enjoy reading here.

Where I’d take my training from there is incorporating movement, both individually and with at least a buddy in a team. This is the training progression in my carbine course.

Unfortunately I don’t know anyone currently in Northern ID that teach courses. That said, with a large enough class and a suitable range I’m always open to travel.
