Understanding Air Assault Operations For Unsupported Fighters

In the Scout Course, the students learned the basic requirements for Air Mobile / Air Assault units and their supporting aircraft requirements while also learning how to potentially exploit those weak points. A guerrilla must fight on his own terms- the best allies are surprise and violence of action, targeting an opponents’ weak points.

This is a short training video on Russian air mobile operations. Its old, but the doctrine is still basically the same:

While this was a conventional Army unit under attack, it underscores the reality that unrestricted mobility via the air is a major problem for unsupported fighters, especially those only equipped with small arms.

What, you mean you’re not expecting anyone to have CCA if/when the shooting starts? Might want to pick up a copy of Jane’s and school yourself.

    I’ll stick with the aircraft recognition playing cards. Need to find some more of those.
