I assume the 5 yr shelf life on these plates is mostly for liability protection and that these plates will be good for much longer….

My comment above was simply meant as a question in case it didn’t come across that way.👍

They put that expiration date on them because of the ‘potential’ breakdown in the kevlar over time. In my experience its irrelevant.

i’d rather have expired kit than a bare chest!

That’s because of “wear and tear” from friction and water damage in the field.
Also, it’s mostly to keep the contractors in business with endless money for “security”.
When it “expires” we pack it up and send it to Nigeria and other various countries we shouldn’t be giving anything too.
I tested a Level 2A rated Kevlar DAPS panel from 2004 with some regular 9mm FMJ out of a 16 inch barrel.
It stopped almost an entire 15 round magazine from my carbine.
Only one or two rounds passed through the panel.
We doubled up on two of the same panels and tested with the same ammo.
It stopped every single round. And could have taken some more punishment.

Seems nice, but carriers seem to have a 8-10 week wait, guess there is a lot of demand.

everyone in your house should have plates. even the kids, 8×10 panels or soft 3A level, they should have something. easy cheap multiplier to consider.
