The guy’s point about the perversion of language by self declared ‘woke’ folks and laughing at them in response, is perfectly correct. You’re not dealing with reason here, but, rather with brain washed individuals and cult mentality.
Dr Robert J Lifton in his brilliant 1961 study on Chinese Communist’s thought reform (ie brain washing) techniques used on American POWs held in N Korean camps, and, upon the broad Chinese public as well, delved into this subject.
Just after ‘Sacred Science’, and, just before ‘Doctrine Over Person, in Lifton’s ‘Eight Criteria for Thought Reform’ is this:
6. ‘Loading the Language’. The group interprets or uses words and phrases in new ways so that often the outside world does not understand. This jargon consists of thought-terminating clichés, which serve to alter members’ thought processes to conform to the group’s way of thinking.
Loaded and weaponized language, such as ‘racist’, ‘homophobe’, ‘Islamaphobe’, etc, etc. Don’t use their cult terminology is a good idea if you want to keep a clear head.
Used to dismiss dissent or justify fallacious logic, the definition of the ‘thought terminating cliche’:
A thought-terminating cliché (also known as a semantic stop-sign, a thought-stopper, bumper sticker logic, or cliché thinking) is a form of loaded language, commonly used to quell cognitive dissonance. Depending on context in which a phrase (or cliché) is used, it may actually be valid and not qualify as thought-terminating; it does qualify as such when its application intends to dismiss dissent or justify fallacious logic. Its only function is to stop an argument from proceeding further, in other words “end the debate with a cliché… not a point.” The term was popularized by Robert Jay Lifton in his 1961 book Thought Reform and the Psychology of Totalism, who called the use of the cliché, along with “loading the language”, as “The language of Non-thought”.
