Reducing Your Electronics Signature, by Prof. Spartan

Sharing the USMC EP EMCON SOP in case you don’t have it yet. There’s a lot of info that might not be relevant, but there are some great nuggets in here. I am still digesting, but I found some concepts aligned with the recent Mission Planning article series on AP. A few of my takeaways are below:
-The theme of restricting comms was hammered home in the RTO courses, this concept is reiterated here along with the adage “well trained teams need less comms”
-Use EMCON levels for group/team activities and SOPs.
-Execution checklist (pg 1-8) got my brain wheels turning and can serve as a template to be modified for various activities as appropriate
-Utilize group brevity codes and call signs by themes, example: mobile assets use girl names, foot patrols using football team names
-Restrict power for different AO sectors
-Increase training on non electronic signals to enhance “well trained teams need less comms”
-Collect ALL Personal Electronic Devices, restrict device usage/access and monitor your teams’ signature.EP EMCON SOP My response: Those points are all salient, and the Marine Corps, as usual, is at least attempting to recognize the threat of EW on the modern battlefield. Today’s prospective neo-reactionary guerilla is finding himself at both a major disadvantage due to willful ignorance or idiocy, but then at a major advantage due to the wide range of open source technology available when trained properly in its use and implementation. But that’s the catch.
They have to be trained. -NCS

Being a guerilla is a conscious choice. So is one’s level of participation in that effort. Participation on any level comes with very steep learning curve. Training, study and observation are critical to success and survival. Failure to properly prepare reduces one to the level of martyrdom.

Anyone who has a ‘smart phone’ or any other internet-enabled Devices is NOT a serious Partisan/Guerilla/Resister/Moolitia Kernel or Whatever. Full Stop. The ways these types of Devices can and Are Used to Track and Record what someone Does and Who they are With are too numerous to List. ANY Conversation taking place within range of one of these Devices CAN and COULD be Recorded. ANYWHERE the Device goes with the Person leaves a Tracking Record of their movements. This is the method being used to selectively Arrest persons who were at the Capitol, before it turned into the “Green Zone” of the Traitors.
If you think you just “Can’t Live without that I-Crap” for >insert stupid reason here< You need to Re-Think your entire Idea of your commitment to Resistance to Tyranny. PAYING the ENEMY to carry their Surveillance Device with you, 24/7/365 is just STUPID.

Not having a smartphone on you during normal life activities could make you stick out like a sore thumb to an analyst when looking at large data sets unless you’re 70 or older.
With so many people staying at home and working from home all the time, one can simply leave their phone at home when they want to dance the electric boogaloo and look like a total normie.
Ditching them altogether may backfire on you.

What about Not ever Having One, since they were Invented?
I’m not sure what other ‘Data Sets’ correlated to ‘not having a smartphone’ would be Meaningful – so a Streetcorner Camera I.D.s you, and you are Not radiating a Cell Phone Signal… You’re still ‘tagged’ as having been in that Location at that Time. Leave the Area with Cameras, and you are not ‘Tracked’ everywhere you go.
And “Tracking” is Not the main Danger of those things, since they can be Remotely Activated to Listen on whatever Conversation is taking place in its Vicinity.
