From a Reader: Perspectives from a Western cop on SIGINT and more

Hey Scout.

First, may God bless you and your family, and happy Easter.

I’ve been following your podcasts from the beginning, ironically finding you on FB on Ready Made Resources page. I’m very glad I did. It’s refreshing to read articles and hear from reasonable minds, in a world racing to the bottom. I really enjoy the live streams and the honestly and candid discussions and personal experiences.

I’ve been a Peace officer in a major western municipal capital city for 15 years, starting in my mid twenties, now a husband and proud father in my 40s. In my short time, I’ve done my best to grow and learn, and listen. In my current position, I am a XXXXX officer, with specialized training in Threat Vulnerability assessments and as a terrorism liaison officer. I also am part of the mobile field force, deployed to civil unrest. I worked the entirety of riots and protests in my city last year. I was privileged to fight antifa and blm in person. I listened, watched, and learned… A lot.

In my work capacity, I get regular info bulletins from our local counter-terrorism info center, which includes the social media pull downs on the antagonistic groups’ plans. In the beginning, they were stupid enough to use social media for planning. I can’t blame them. The left owns social media, and the anarcho-marxists believed they were “safe”. They didn’t know we were watching. They quickly changed inside of a week and began to use social media to organize crowds, which they needed to hide behind. They organized they’re own trusted people with Signal. Yes, Signal. But… They didn’t know what our plans were upon arrest. Every person we arrested with a cell phone, got it seized. I know you know what follows that. We got ALL their comms. All of it. It was delicious. They did not use dedicated clandestine devices. They used their own cell phones. Fools.

In addition to using signal to organize, they were using radios on the street for tactical work. By this time, I had been listening to the podcast for a bit, and had bought a uv5r, and began to listen. The antifas were using FRS radios. Smart. Short range, and easy to dump in a trash can, which many did. But, we were always close, and I got to listen. I carried that radio in my vest every day, and still do.

Fast forward to now, and in my role as a XXXXXXX officer I am still a neighborhood liaison officer. I work mostly with gentrified communities, very close to downtown. They vote predominantly Democrat and value progressive post-modernist ideals that parallel, or are congruent with the anarcho-marxisism of antifa. They are now worried about their future.

I find myself in this fucking weird place where I have lefty neighborhood representatives reaching out to me for advice on disaster and emergency preparedness, and grid-down communications, which I am more than capable of giving and organizing. Having only acquired my gmrs and ham licences in the past year, I feel that I have you and AP to thank for the amazing resource that you are. Your advice, specifically relating to organizing neighborhood defense and communication, is becoming very relevant to my work as a police officer in helping my communities be better prepared for the future. Hopefully I can help some of them see the truth of the real world around us, and some of the values that we hold dear.

Glad you are out there. I share your beliefs and passions. I look forward to learning more, and taking your classes in the future.

Working for the future.

I find it ironic that the communities you police support, antifa, blm and the left; but, now are worried about their future. Is the concern that things aren’t communist enough or that their homes and neighborhoods may burn too? I’m assuming the latter. Perhaps they should have consider the potential outcomes of supporting anarcho-marxism. Be careful what you ask for.

They are the same commie shit bags from the 60’s harassing and spitting on GI’s coming back from Vietnam. I HATE EM! Every last one of em!! They all can go down the drain with the RevComs IMHO. Disdain = To regard or treat with haughty contempt

I hear ya brother! I don’t have any regard for such folk either.
My father-in-law was shot down in a Huey, Dec ’65 in IA Drang Valley. Didn’t survive it. My wife was born 4 days later.

Oh Man, am I with you 110%! I was one of those GI’s returning to the “”World” in 1969 from Viet-Nam. Was part of group walking thru terminal and got garbage thrown at us by the scum. Don’t have words for what we GIs wanted to do at that moment.

Could not agree more with SOG and FLYBY. I, seriously, wonder why one would support a group that is hell bent on “trashing” me and my fellow officers. Best stay “neutral” and collect “HUMINT” from the neighbors. Is that not what is done when you perceiver yourself at “WAR”?

I too work in a liberal (albeit probably much smaller) city with gentrified communities. When the civil unrest started last year and the progressive community’s businesses started being threatened, vandalized or had less foot traffic due to the leftist scum, they screamed bloody murder to the city council and mayor. What did the people in charge do? The mayor and newly installed police chief apologized for tear gassing the protesters. They bent over backward the rest of the summer to accommodate them. Even as the protesters continued to break the law and cause massive issues. The city commonwealth attorney largely dropped or feebly prosecuted the vast majority of the protester arrestees. And the protest group has sued the city for several million dollars because their snowflake asses couldn’t deal with a little chemical agent…. My sheriff thankfully has told them to kiss his ass…. but then again my agency is only secondary in the jurisdiction and not in the limelight. And Riot Season is almost upon us again, what with the Chauvin trial going on and the verdict expected at some point in the late spring/summer.
    Yay…….

Sounds like Richmond or somewhere up north. I’m surprised that Richmond can keep any officers on the force at this point.

unless they are like minded dont teach them shit that can be multiplied against you. my opinion

We should NEVER help anyone with any level of left leaning mind fuckery. Let them suffer for what they have adhered to.
Cops are now facing a very difficult choice which many have been warning is coming for years.
The ones who protect the powers that be will pay accordingly. The ones who really do want to side with us will have to make it very clear at some point by their actions.
      We are paying close attention.

        Well spoken!

Not surprised by the reaction of his left wing neighbors. Attitudes change rapidly when the threat comes to your doorstep. We had a public defender who later became county attorney who was full on Marxist. Then he and his family became victims of a home invasion in which he was shot in the head but survived. Criminals were no longer his friends. Many of the Marxist elites think its cool and edgy to associate with the antifa and criminal element, never understanding they are seen as dupes. Used for their money and power. Good article and insights into comm security thanks brothers

Good vindication for Scout’s lectures about security. I wouldn’t want to be wearing any kind of uniform now.Michael Collins had success with good guys on the force though.

    • NC Scout April 1, 2021 at 10:43

Yes he did. A lot of Patriots need to understand the motivating factors for a man going into a local law enforcement office at the local level are the same as what motivates them to a Patriot cause. And while it could be argued they serve two masters, the questions regarding ideology versus career boils down to an individual level and cannot be painted with a broad brush in either direction. Collins was absolutely brilliant in this regard with a pragmatic approach at a time many Irishmen were staunchly against anyone in an RUC uniform.
      Now…the FBI and ATF…that’s a different story.

      • boss21 April 1, 2021 at 11:00

It was made clear to RIC the choices –
        Stay in and be amenable.
        Walk away.
        Or ….

GET SOME! I trained a few officers on the UV-5R recently.
Adapt and Overcome. And yes, they are pretty arrogant. They won’t make those same mistakes again this summer. And if you haven’t noticed, they are already hitting the streets and prepping the battle space. They opened up with carrying guns and wearing vests this summer. They basically look like the Joker and a SWAT officer had a love child.

    • FlyBy April 1, 2021 at 13:01

If a conservative group showed up wearing vests, plates and toting arms, there’d be hell to pay. Can’t have a right winger carrying arms in public!
