Bro, I love you. If you hate current MRE’s you are either soft or gay. I forgot how many times I spent 2 weeks in Montucky fucking around fighting fires eating MREs and never missed a beat. All the faggots on the crew were the ones that packed canned food. The real men packed extra gas, sweatshirts, water, TP, and batteries. When I started my first MREs were made for the 1984 Olympics… The news ones are awesome.
They all have a preservative taste. The new ones are definitely far better than the old triple Cs of death…but…if I’ve got options, I’ll take em.
The triple C’s will pack you up tighter than tight, wont drop a duece for a month, miserable stuff for the bod.
As someone who ate T-RATs for several months, and I had to eat peanut butter and jelly honey buns(expired) for nearly two weeks, I can assure you that I’ll take a properly stored MRE any day. Except the Pesto Pasta! That’s basically death by Acid Reflux in a mylar bag. I always thought the Spicy Penne Pasta with Vegetable Cumble was a decent entree. Or the Pork RIb with Jalapeño Cheese on tortillas. YUM!
However, Scout’s experience of eating sunbaked MRE’s is something I haven’t had to experience. That sounds like a gut busting experience.
Amen on Maundy Thursday. Have a blessed Holy Week

That’s outstanding!
I have a metal box for EMP. Also see empshield.com for protecting cars and other systems from over loading the circuit. I kicked android and iphone on their ass with new linux phones loaded with offline maps and compatible with android apps – android apps based on linux kernel.
Hey Scout,
Love your podcasts. Thanks for doing them. They are a great encouragement. You really hit a touchy area about being connected to family and community. People have never been more “connected” yet they have never been more isolated.
Have a great Easter.
Thanks brother!! There’s been a few sociological studies on the rise of social media and the correlation of the suicide rate, primarily among teens. Social isolation, which results in anomie, is noted as the causal factor.
I couldn’t agree more.
Suburban life has had the same effect as social media. Connected, but far away. And in regards to your comments about suicide and social media; Many teenagers get on Social Media during the awkward pituitary phase of their life. Which is not exactly a good time to be posting pictures and quotes trying to attract attention. Especially for women, or different races, since they develop so differently. It leads to A LOT of hurt feelings and damage.
Yup. Its a graduate-level sociology conversation on social disorganization theory in relation to Durkheim’s theory of Anomie, and where the two intersect is precisely where both social media and suburban zoning render their ugly heads.
Social media in particular appeals to both immediate gratification and compulsive behaviors. Its quite nefarious how such a compulsion can be weaponized for a social control mechanism. Even worse when one creates a false dichotomy.
I give you Gab.
I believe that social media is on the same level of destructiveness as pornography. Both serve up a warped and perverted view of human relationships. Both are extremely addictive. Both rob man of what is truly nurturing and rewarding. Neither are based on reality. Both rob and steal from us and leave nothing but a hollowed out shell.
Amen!!!!!!
Suburban life, moving across the country chasing your dream job, feminism, public schools, that and much much has destroyed the fabric and even the idea of community.
You nailed it brother. Many a time I have been viewed as the three headed step child for not taking that bait on “job offers”. Chase mammon and reap the whirlwind. Community and kin matter.
if google wasnt spying it wouldnt always try to finish your sentences or suggest replies to emails. that alone proves the AI is reading and digesting all your email traffic

Looking forward to the new forums. I joined and loved the setup and the topics. Wish it would have stayed but glad you are going to start up another one.
This one is very similar to that one, but run completely in house so there’s little chance of it getting killed by big tech.
One of my favorite rucking meals is Idahoan mash potato packet. Dry corn, onion, garlic, and a little bacon. Mix together with water it makes a very hearty corn chowder. The only cans my old carcass can afford to pack, (if i think there won’t be much game or fish around.), is meat. I like spam or corned beef. Sometimes I fry chopped up bacon at home. And take it grease and all in a small jar. Everything goes good with bacon grease.
