Steve Kwast showed up at one of my squadrons as a young Lieutenant. He was, and is, a very sharp guy. Damn, this makes me feel old.

Remember when The Gipper got laughed at over “Star Wars”? The hostile media went nuts over the whole proposal because it was pretty pie in the sky and not immediately obtainable. But it royally fucked the soviets because they were already pissing three quarters of their gdp into defense spending. To keep up, they had to begin research of their own and it pushed them way past economic sustainability even faster than they were already going.
Who gives a rats ass if the Chin want to launch their men into hard vacuum inside repurposed 55 gallon drums? They’re playing the same old trick on us here when we, instead, might begin to consider hiring some non-EEO bridge inspectors and spend our money on something a little more immediate and tangible.

      I hadn’t considered that.
But, the advent of turbine jet engines that can propel even a 40 year old fighter bomber aircraft into Near Low Earth Orbit to take out satellites is a game changer. Especially considering how old the tech is. If they go to 60,000 feet, we need to go to 90,000.
If anyone loses their satellites its practically game over. We will be back to analog naval artillery and cluster bombs if that’s the case.
I would suspect we have EWIS aircraft that can be launched and fill this roll though. If I had the authority, I would modify a B-52 (Or have some modified ICBMS) to be able to launch some disposable GPS and Comms satellites into space in case of war… Even if the orbit is decaying, it would still be useful enough to get our Subs, BCGs, and Aegis Missile cruisers back in the fight.
Regardless, U.S. Space Force is here to stay, and I have seen the facilities, housing, and construction in Castle Rock, CO myself.
This is covered fairly well in Tom Clancy’s book “Red Storm Rising”. Despite the book being nearly 30 years old.

Good call on that book man, I was going to point out the anti-sat from it and then you brought it up!
I think China is screwed long term. Another Clancy book had them eyeing Siberia because of its proximity and resource wealth and I honestly think that’s their best option, just by simple logistics. Their biggest asset is also their greatest weakness though, a lot of young men. Mix that with the right amount of “nothing to do” and they’ll be back to eating one another like the early seventies. Even their genetic and culturally inclined subservient to authority nature will rebel given enough stress.
What their ruling class is able to inflict on them, and us, before they lose power is the wildcard.

GPS satellites in a decaying orbit would be unsuitable for navigation. GPSs work by measuring the time it takes a signal to arrive from multiple satellites in known positions. Nonstandard or decaying orbits negate that. Not only that, current GPS signals need to be adjusted for relativistic effects to be usable and that would be near impossible to do with temporary satellites.
Be that as it may, precision weapons delivery would still be available with the loss of GPS. Since as far back as the mid to late eighties all major weapons delivery platforms have used accurate inertial guidance, using GPS only as a backup. This includes fighters, ICBMs, cruise missiles, and I’m assuming all Navy assets as well. Probably most effected would be the ground forces rapid position finding capability.

In the 1980’s or 1990’s perhaps. But we could calibrate the disposable satellites every time they fly overhead or pass a space station. Or, we could use a U2. Which I hear is still used and is under a new designation now. I’m obviously not a pilot or rocket scientist. So I fully admit I am most likely incorrect.
Good to know there is a primary system that is independent. Ground forces could use a modified digital radio system perhaps. Radio took some pretty neat leaps in the 1990’s to stay relevant ahead of the cellular revolution. I am still amazed at how clear a digital radio is. Really the one fault is how quickly the signal drops. I much prefer the analog system because you can tell when you are approaching the TX range limit.

“ I much prefer the analog system because you can tell when you are approaching the TX range limit.”
Not everything is going digital. As I was flying across ND & MT yesterday I caught several voice transmissions on 15.016 MHz. They were Air Force action messages coded with some version of an OTP. They even had that old fashion tinny, echoing sound to them. Pretty cool. Sound like the old “numbers” stations.

    Thank you Johnny Paratrooper,
This is by far, one of the best and cognisant ground, air and beyond situations I have heard in a while.
Very serious and applications must be attended to, or else.
On another topic Johnny Paratrooper, was wondering if you have read this, since, you know – Everyting Is Connected:

The General is right on target, China has raced ahead and continues to pull ahead – with OUR technology and assistance from Traitors within the U.S. – while we in the U.S. we are concerned with how many Genders there are and Woke stupidity and a Congress bought & paid for to undermine our progress. As Aviators, we were having to train to use Sextants again, because China has Killer Satellites that will knock out our Satellite Network in the beginning of a conflict.
The Wright Brothers designed/built/tested the first workable aircraft and yet in WW I we were having to use British & French aircraft because the U.S. Army wanted to concentrate on new saddle designs and more horses.

    • KOBK May 16, 2021 at 18:35

Funny how the traitors within the US typically come from the (((tribe))).
We need to look a little closer at why that is because they do incredible damage to us yet are almost never held accountable, which is equally odd.

His book is ‘sold out ‘ (suppressed) on Amazon. Another good name to add to any future leadership cadre post FUSA.

      • Paulo May 16, 2021 at 20:16

Saw that BOSS21. It is at top 3.
I would personally get printing bids and print myself.
What printing cost per unit (book), is determined by the amount of books
you order. Rule of thumb is after the initual costs of prep and set ups, once the
press begins to roll, costs begin to lower except paper/ink/running time binding etc.
One can see the difference comparing printing, lets say 5000 books compared to
10,000 books and so forth. Of course, Equipment List is important to know
regarding the Printing Company one is dealing with.
The Printing Industry used to be in many States tops in Americas Industry.
        Then Shipping/Delivering/Fulfilment is another factor….

Great speech, especially when he said whoever gets out there first sets the tone. The west with it’s traditions or the east with what we see manifesting in China. Star Trek/Federation or the Borg.
