Amazing story – stumbled on this a few months ago. It is humbling to realize how advanced they were despite the progressive wing telling us otherwise (although I have seen how some leftists use this to discredit Christianity).

    • Johnny Paratrooper June 22, 2021 at 08:30

How could a leftist us this to discredit humanity? Has this “individual” ever even heard of science? Advanced Science was invented by guys like Descartes. Descartes and others repeatedly state in their writings God inspired them…
      Leftists are really vapid people.

      • Janke Nav June 22, 2021 at 09:35

They framed it that the ignorant, planet of the apes- like Christians crushed the natural genius of these Greeks. He rolled sexism into it as well, forgetting that sexism never occurred to those people – it took the Frankfurt school to pollute our minds with the idea that Christianity was oppressive to women…🤮

        • Johnny Paratrooper June 22, 2021 at 09:39

The Athenians, who produced most of the Ancient Greek writings we have, despised women as silly, dirty, and weak.
They used to sell them as slaves to the easterners in Asia Minor for gold and silver.
Atheist/Anti-christian leftists (I repeat myself) are vapid people indeed…

    • LionHeart June 23, 2021 at 11:40

In the 1600’s Galileo was accused and condemned for heresy by the Church for declaring and not recanting the Earth revolves around the Sun. The Bible clearly states it is the other way around.
Look into Alexandria In 391AD and what happened to Hypatia – or more specifically what the Christians did to her after they torched the Library of Alexandria (yes THAT library).
Seems Christianity held the line against science as long as they could and caved only when overwhelmed.

      • Johnny Paratrooper June 23, 2021 at 12:29

This isn’t true. Christians invented modern science. The rest is/was a bunch of witchcraft and alchemy. It’s also worth noting that without precision instruments, it was nearly impossible to measure what direction the earth, moon, or sun were revolving or spinning.
In fact, the only ancient pagans who did figure this out had built giant monolithic structures. Such as ziggurats. Which were so large that they didn’t need to be precise when observing the effect of moonlight, sunlight, and using them to track the days/months/years. Their sheer size made up for the lack of precision, or failures of mathematic principles and the understanding of laws of physics. One could simply trace the path of the moon, sun, and stars using circles of rocks to understand the direction and distances. Though they never knew WHAT these directions and distances were, or why…
Also, the scientists who studied the Antikythera mechanism had to become experts in ancient beliefs to understand why there were so many inaccuracies in the design of the device. It wasn’t until they had an understanding of these that they could begin to piece the device together. Because the device was built using superstitious, and incorrect, models of the solar system.
What makes the device so incredible is that despite having an incorrect understanding of the solar system, they managed to accurately display the information, which was close enough to measure the planting of crops and predict solar eclipses to within 12-24 hours.
Modern science, which was 99% invented by Christians, can predict an eclipse to the exact seconds it will occur.
And, as I stated in a previous comment, if you read writings such as “Meditations on First Philosophy: By Reneé Decartés” you will see that he spends no less than 7-10 pages thanking God for his knowledge and vision. Because only a sentient, all knowing and infinite being like God could have the power to give him the ability to reason this knowledge.
This is called the “Cartesian circle” and it proves the existence of God.
“I am a thinking, logical, reasoning thing: Only God could give me this power; Because I think, reason, and have logic, God must exist: Ergo, God is real”. It has yet to be disproven and is one of the challenges that all Philosophy Majors must at least try to prove or disprove for their associates degree in Philosophy 101.
I dare you to try to disprove the Cartesian circle. It’s impossible…
        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cartesian_circle
To date, this is the closest any man has ever come to proving the existence of God.
One Arab Philosopher, contemplated ALMOST the same philosophy, but he doubted the existence of Allah(Or any god by extension), which led to him proving that Allah could NOT be real because there are writings that preceded Allah; Therefore, he knew not which was the first cause of causes, but that there was, in fact, a first cause because we can see these “causes” all around us”.
The “cause” being literally anything. An ant, a grain of wheat, a dog, a person, a sand, water, stars, comets, lighting or wind. A cause is anything. The Arab Philosopher used too many pagan “proofs” in his argument for his reasoning to be Islamic, or even monotheistic by any metric.

        • LionHeart June 23, 2021 at 15:37

Exactly – that was the “overwhelmed” part I was referring to as so much evidence piled up the Church had to step aside. Your response to Galileo’s problems or the Alexandria unpleasantness? Both very much happened. In fairness, Alexandria’s library got hammered several times – an earthquake hurt it bad before the Christian mob did their number on it. Muslim savages pretty much finished it off. A great shame…

          • Johnny Paratrooper June 23, 2021 at 16:52

The library was full of pagan nonsense and pseudoscience anyway… Not exactly a miserable loss. The real loss is the Islamists destroying and looting the Christians and their cities in the Middle Easy and North Africa. They destroyed all the artwork, statues, and churches. The Blue Mosque in Turkey used to be a Church.
            That’s the real tragedy.

    • LionHeart June 23, 2021 at 11:43

I should add Islam has a similar history re science and they were set back 1000 years. Seems it is common with monotheistic religions.

      • Johnny Paratrooper June 23, 2021 at 12:40

All Islamists are liars, thieves, and civilization destroyers. Islam never invented a damn thing. Arabic Numerals aren’t even Arabic. They are Indian numerals from the Indus River Valley and predate Islam by thousands of years. Numerals are simply Sanskrit hash marks that have evolved in shape and been standardized. Who standardized them? A king named Charlemagne. A Christian King of the Catholic order…
Charlemagne worked with the brothers of the monasteries to standardize writing and numerals to increase communication within his kingdom. By doing this, he brought Christians closer together than they had even been since the peak of Roman Catholic achievements. Messaging, the textbook definition, requires one to encode, transmit, receive, and decode all forms of communications. Including non-verbal, spoken, written, or other forms like sarcasm or body language. By standardizing the “Messaging” he invented a form of science without even knowing he did.
By the time his reforms were adopted across Europe, the Renaissance followed soon after, and then the Age of Reason/Enlightenment.
Can’t have one without the other. As it is, by consequence, a scientific process.
Of course, don’t ask the communication expert communists at Berkley, who published tombs of nonsense on the subject; The only thing the Berkley communication doctorates ever invented was “Homo Sapien Narrans”. Or, “Man The Story Telling Animal”. Which I have yet to disprove. We do tell stories, and it is one of our defining characteristics as a people.
You know who else tells stories and likes a good story? God…

A very skilled guy on youtube is attempting to build a functional replica. He has been working on it for years (still not finished), using historical tools and techniques.

    • Johnny Paratrooper June 22, 2021 at 11:04

That’s interesting. The one guy in one of the documentaries has made several prototypes that are functional and accurate. We honestly have no way of knowing exactly what the face looked like, but we do understand the functions and complications that were incorporated into the device. Reportedly, as mentioned in several ancient texts cited in the documentaries, people marveled at these devices, and they were common enough that they were in fact written about. Which is pretty incredible. I would guess these devices, though not all were exceptionally complex, were as common as a Ferrari is today.

Being a book nerd.. I have to share this book here now. This is probably the only time in my life I will have a chance to share it with anyone else that will care! Interesting reading into the mind of the original builders : https://www.gutenberg.org/files/20239/20239-h/20239-h.htm

Ancient Engineering, knowledge of the planets, constellation of stars, seasons, comets perpetually fascinates me. Few years ago I stumbled into some youtube videos of Graham Hancock. First I was a bet skeptical. The presentations generated more interest particularly into the navigation around the planet in ancient times, influence of a Persian explorer and his detailed maps that were reportedly before even his time.
Those few videos led to my obtaining a copy of Graham Hancock’s “America Before”. Yes, our country has much of ancient occupation mores than just the Serpentine Mound in Ohio or the mound builders in the Miami Valley.
My joy as a kid, and still to this day, looking at the heavens at night from a dark pasture of ours. The Milky Way is stunning. How the ancients calculated the movements is humbling.
JP, Thanks for the refreshing and thought provoking article.

    • LionHeart June 23, 2021 at 17:12

If you like Hancock I think you’ll get a lot out of Brien Foerster as he explores lost ancient high technology. Stuff we couldn’t imagine doing today.

The pyramids were built by the Egyptians. They used to drink beer and build Pyramids as part of their military training. There are quarries and stone saws located next to the quarries. Then they would ship them up the nile.

        • LionHeart June 23, 2021 at 18:32

Dude – you left your lane bro.

          • Johnny Paratrooper June 23, 2021 at 18:41

My Lane? You are promoting nonsense. The Egyptians built the pyramids dude.

          • LionHeart June 24, 2021 at 10:44

The pyramids had been there a loooong time when the Egyptians showed up. Sure they painted, chipped and fussed here and there but the blast damage and rain etching pre-date them by millennia. Plus the quality of Egyptian work sucks compared to the original. Then check out the burn marks inside the “sarcophogii” and how the lids were blown up and off by internal explosions – scores of them rowed in tight vaults deep underground. They weren’t used for burials because there is no human way to set them back even today. There are many other data;points besides those. You don’t know any of this because you’re out of your lane. Give Foerster a look and expand your mind.

      • Johnny Paratrooper June 23, 2021 at 17:35

Also, Hancock tells an interesting story, but he is a left wing commie clown. And he has zero evidence except conjecture. I have read both his books FYI.

I just sketched out my “infinity” clock design yesterday.. again how did you know? And now wondering when I launch my blimp if Monkey Werx will be able to see it as a blip on his radar.

    • Johnny Paratrooper June 23, 2021 at 07:03

Monkey Werx had me convinced for about a month that he was legit. But then he closed the comments and I realized his BS was scripted. After he had the whole 8kun crew on and the other Q-anon dorks, I realized he was an IIA operator. IIA is the pentagon term for Interactive Internet Activities. It’s the pentagon’s version of an Internet Influencer. Sometimes this operation is referred to as an “Influence Operation” for the purposes of brevity. Private intelligence agencies and foreign governments also use internet influencers. I was told most of them don’t even know they are working for one, the other, or both. I was also told that the ideal influencers would NOT know they are working for the enemy or good guys.

      • Terminatrix June 23, 2021 at 09:22

Wow, yeah Millie and Tore explained all of that thanks for pointing him out. The guys keep up with some things closely and the girls keep up with other things closely. We see different stuff. So he’s another time waster.. its like they are all great character fodder for one big show! Thank goodness I didn’t buy any of his beard cream. LOL. back to tinkering.
