Jack Lawson Sends: Not Just Your Everyday Pemmican, Part One – The Coming Food Problem

This excerpt comes from Jack Lawson straight out of Chapter 14 of his two volume masterpiece, “Civil Defense Manual”. You can grab a copy of his book here. Jack is a strong supporter of American Partisan, and even had NC Scout write the chapter on Radio Communications (Chapter 17 in Volume I). I bought my copy the day it become available and I highly recommend you do as well.

A recent news report… “Tomatoes in Italy lay rotting in the fields because of a shortage or absence of containers to package them, mainly tin cans.”
Anyone who eats Italian food knows the importance of tomatoes in Italian cuisine. The Italian tomato harvest is a disaster. Disruption of the food supply chain. No tomatoes. The same disruption happened to beef in packing plants in the United States… they shut their doors for a week because of computer systems being hacked and held for ransom. They couldn’t process a pound of beef without their computerized system.

Nice red colors with early sunlight (if you can get beyond the smell.)

I call the non-existence of food… “Foodabsence.” There are all sorts of nouns, adverbs, etc. that describe the various degrees of symptoms, states of being and effects that not having food has on humans, such as malnourishment or famine or starvation or hunger… but the English language has no singular word for the state that causes it. Not a shortage or scarcity of… but total absence of food. None. So, I’ve created a singular term as a word for no food… Foodabsence.
Interesting… the Ukrainians came up with a term encompassing two words, the word “Holodomor,” to describe “Murder by Starvation” that the Communists successfully engaged the Ukraine with by starving to death 12,500,000 of them in the 1932-33 period that I wrote about in my newsletter… Store Food NOW!
https://civildefensemanual.com/store-food-now/
People believe in a lot of bullshytte. If you’re going to be afraid, be fearful of something that can really happen… like food shortages. Or, you can bury your head in the sand like the Proverbial Ostrich… and believe the world will go on indefinitely without these problems affecting you. You can continue to ignore the news of supply shortages and disruption of the supply chain and focus on the new society being promoted by those extreme Leftists (Communists), some who simply want power and some who believe Communism is the path to a better world.
I want a better world… but I’ve seen Communism first hand and know that their ‘utopia’ of total equality, metrosexual anything sexual is okay, feel good attitude of warm and fuzzy togetherness is an illusion. It’s not our salvation. It does create an equality… that of suffering and misery… except for those who run it.
So, when the Communists state… “Capitalism can’t provide for people… but Communism can!” don’t take their promise lightly or with a laugh. They will provide you… if you’re on their side… but doing so by measures that are barbaric. People will support anything that provides the Critical Life Supplies and Services for them, barbaric or not. Especially the solution to Foodabsence. They will use these issues and methods to get control and get in power.
Like old man Koch said… “Communism is an ideology of freezing cold, starvation, hopelessness and sheer terror.” He was a world-class mercenary opportunist, but he lived in it… so he knew. Communism. Think… just another form of dictatorship. Think… a perverted form of nepotistic royalty… forever. Think… living in terror.
I’ll bet on problems of shortages or the complete absence of food. Do I have a ‘doom and gloom’ mentality? Actually, no. I am well-prepared with a group of other well-prepared people. So, I’m relaxed about it… my NPP Group Members (CDM™ Neighborhood Protection Plan – see the chapter on our website here) are ready for just about anything and so am I. I’ll be eating enough to survive… even though my constant companions will be a shotgun or rifle and pistol.

Then why do I believe there will be problems?

Simple math and odds making. Las Vegas is like home to me because I lived there for so many years. I don’t gamble at casinos because I’m smart enough to know the house always wins. I know many of the elite there. Gamblers, casino owners, pit bosses, business and government people. Over the years I have become well versed in the probabilities of chance and odds. To a large degree… I live by those.
The odds of Foodabsence are so probable because of an axiom that ‘Jimmy the Greek’ Snyder, the famous Las Vegas oddsmaker, said. Something to this effect… The longer since an occurrence… the more probable the reoccurrence.”

Trials and Tribulations of the "Vegas Man" known as Jimmy the Greek (part 2) - GamingZion ...
‘Jimmy The Greek’ – Casinos bet on his forecast of probabilities

I’ll add another variable to the above statement… “The more complex and sophisticated a machine… the more probable are breakdowns.” In other words, our supply manufacturing, processing and delivery ‘machines’ (systems) are too complex and just have too many moving parts to not have breakdowns.
Not just food, but items critical to production of food. Gasoline stopped flowing through pipelines to gas stations a few months ago because of computer hacking. If employees can’t get to work, or trucks can’t deliver because of absence of fuel… the end result is Foodabsence. I could go on. But you know all this… unless you haven’t paid any attention to the news.
The food delivery system is creaking. This started before the Coronavirus ever raised its ugly deceitful head and caused panic buying. But it had started way before from another issue seldom factored into the equation. That is the computer automated and streamlined high-activity item instant-feedback driven supply system.
This is what controls all supply systems in the Industrialized World… but I concentrate on the food supply system here. Computers have allowed manufacturing and delivery systems to “lean out to the bone” raw products stored for processing, materials used in processing, system times for processing, time for delivery and stocks of food in warehouses and grocery stores. The supply chain is lean of products… it’s down to the bone for reserves.
This may be redundant… but look at the chart. It doesn’t include the Instant Feedback by computer of the supply system and its effect on how much is in the supply chain. Computers have given instant feedback from retailers as to what suppliers and manufacturers need to provide… consequently, they buy and store less of everything. This gives all involved with the food chain huge savings by inventorying much less and in some cases handling it less and reducing or eliminating time in storage.
This system, although a wet dream for military Quartermasters, bean counters and supply efficiency experts, has drastically reduced the amount of all products in the supply chain. Including products needed by processors and manufacturers to process and manufacture… such as packaging, preservatives and chemicals.
This has literally put Americans on a hand to mouth subsistence… or should I say a “Grocery Store to Mouth” existence. I don’t know how many Americans are moving to home delivered meals comprised of all the ingredients ready to cook as I see advertised constantly… but that scares me more. What prepared meals fit in your refrigerator will not feed you for very long… a much shorter time if electricity is out.
Look forward to increased hacking of computer-controlled processing, storage and delivery systems… which will be devastating. Read about the anomaly of production systems replenishing anything manufactured, processed, stored or delivered after there is panic buying and ‘runs’ on stores of the supply chain. Read “The 1978 Toilet Paper Shortage” in the Civil Defense Manual newsletters.
See this article for more information: https://civildefensemanual.com/store-food-now/
It takes months to catch up demand… and months of food shortages, or no food means many deaths from starvation after Foodabsence. That anomaly can be caused or exacerbated by pandemic/epidemic, employee shortages, trucking company driver shortages, fuel shortages, electrical outages…
It’s almost like the old joke… “There’s good news and bad news… I’ll give you the good news first!”
The good news will be obese Americans will lose all that blubber… they’ll get skinny. The bad news is… after getting skinny… many Americans will die. This will also be the fate of those people of the Industrialized World who depend on these complex food supply systems.
A report from ForwardObserver.com
SUPPLIES: Ongoing global supply-chain disruptions are expected to continue until next year at least. Not due solely to available inventory up and down the manufacturing chain; labor shortages and commodity manipulation are also being blamed. Analysts expect an impact on back-to-school shopping as many of the supplies and educational materials are manufactured overseas or rely on international midstream partners.
Jeffries’ chief economist Aneta Markowska said, “There’s a very good chance that you’re going to have severe product shortages by September.” The impact on consumers is being passed along through price-increases and decreased availability of once common products. (AC: While not directly mentioned in many outlets, recent reports from Yantian indicate several more weeks of delays in exports ultimately impacting the fall and holiday shopping seasons. – D.M.)

Near Chicago, there is a long wait for furniture delivery. My neighbor ordered furniture in December and got it in March. I went looking for furniture and was told the wait would be 2 to 3 months. They blame the political lock downs for the absence of inventory.

Add to this the construction of the Belt and Road.
Which I believe is sapping massive amounts of resources and is one of the big secrets.
The Forth Industrial Revolution isn’t going to build itself.
Mr. Lawson, have you read “Stealth War” by General Spalding?
The book discusses supply chain attacks in the form of sending the wrong supplies, raw materials, and finished products to the wrong addresses, or simply changing orders. Creating massive headaches for suppliers and manufacturers.
I wonder if this is still occurring.
Thankfully, our country isn’t a completely despotic nightmare. Yet…
I improved my position this week by prepping thousands and thousands of brass. Nearly 30 hours of work.
Morale of the story? Never stop working to improve your position. I don’t want to be doing the little stuff when the big stuff comes around.

    Hey Jack,
We have traded resiliency and community for efficiency over the years in many regards. My grandfather, and later passed to my dad, had their own slaughter house in rural Illinois. They started at the live animal, carved it up, and transported it about a mile to the little grocery store and meat locker in town. Tho he will tell you it’s a lost art, thank God dad sold the biz and moved to Florida mid 80’s. The hometown quality product has been out of demand for many years along with chance of surviving SHTF in Illinois.
If you think that you are going to need Jack’s book a word of advice. Get it now, I just ordered mine this evening. After listening to some of Trump’s rally rhetoric I think we are running out of time (more on that in a moment). Though I did not request it in the notes please sign it and wish me luck (not joking). I suspect we are going to have a pretty clear picture by end of September, possibly sooner, just how deep into shit we are. Let’s all be honest we are all most likely one “Patriot Stands his Ground” event from having massive retaliatory attacks perpetuated against people who fit a certain description (us). The media will be all too excited to convict the people that make this country run the scapegoats as soon as the first person defends his life, family, or property.
Back to Trump, Saw a couple clips of Trumps speech. I doubt the Left is going to keep letting him spout off like that. They’re already a paranoid bunch, most dictators are. Look how worried they seem to be about Q people. I can tell you there’s only a couple possible explanations for what is happening right now or what is coming. I can’t tell you I have the answer but it’s one of these:
–Trump is a literal egomaniac and is completely out if his depth. He’s going to get himself and more people hurt with no possible plan for victory.
–Trump is actually a Deep State plant setting more conservative people up to take a fall and knock the wind out of any resistance.
–Trump has a divinely inspired plan to bust a lot of balls. He’s getting ready to lay it all on the line.
I guess it could be possible he’s option 2 and they (DT & DS) work together to make it look like he’s option 1 and let Trump slip away? I really am not certain at this point what is going on. One thing i am very sure of Trump’s offensive has NOTHING to do with future elections. So like I have already said I don’t think we have much more time. I wasn’t into any of this prepping stuff until about a year ago. If it is option 3 I will be the most relieved person on the planet. But even then you have the scenario yet to kick off, headlines read: “In a fit of white rage man runs over blantifa members at peaceful roadside protest.” And I think most of you know where that’s heading. I can see violence across the cities sprouting up like mushrooms.
    Best Regards,
    Luke

Grahams Killhouse Rules Applies especially #5
Mostly, ALWAYS BE WORKING . There is always something you can be doing to improve your position. Always. Because nobody is coming to save you.
I run across way too many preppers with lots of money in guns, NVG’s and ammo and almost NOTHING aside from maybe a case of MRE’s in FOOD.
I ask them about water and they tell me they have a little sawyer filter or something….
Rule of 3’s GUYS, Rule of 3’s.
3 seconds with out security (Bang your dead) YOU seem to have that covered eh?
30 minutes in nasty weather WITH OUT Shelter your dead or wish that to be true. Most have that covered, not all.
3 Days with out Water or with BAD Water. Day two you wish you were dead, day three your Wish is Granted. Most have NO Realistic Water Planning nor enough field sanitation knowledge to prevent human waste from destroying your water supply. It doesn’t have to be YOUR Poo Destroying your water source, could be someone upstream or a rotting carcass in the pond or… Field Sanitation teaches you what to LOOK for to find, secure and process water. As well as handling garbage and human wastes to keep 3rd world diseases out of your campsite.
3 weeks with out food. I cringe when I see someone touting their “Years Supply” of Wise Brand Survival Foods that fits in this duffel bag REALLY? Have you ever eaten that gunk? High Sodium, low food values, NASTY Taste… Taste test your survival food.
For a good training event don’t eat for a long weekend. See how that affects your ability to do ANYTHING well. Drink water, Don’t cheat. THEN try to Eat some of your “survival foods”.
Hopefully you’ll figure out why “An Army Marches on it’s Stomach” and get a REALISTIC amount of food.
Applying Rule #5 Start a Garden if you don’t already have one. It’s a SKILLSET your going to NEED. That Can of “Survival Seeds” and NO real skills will help you STARVE. Trust me on that.
THIS Week get a “eyed” potato, cut it into chunks with an “eye” in each chunk. Let the cuts dry for a day or so. Plant them 3 inches deep about 2 -3 feet apart. Keep damp NOT wet, wet rots away. When the leaves come up HILL all but 20 percent of the greenery every week or so. That forces the potato plant to make those buried leaves into MOAR ROOTS and MOAR Potatoes.
From planting to harvest is about 4 months if you keep it watered properly AND you selected GOOD Soil to plant it in AND you kept it basically weeded as weeds steal the water and soil nutrition from your potatoes.
COST maybe 50 cents and Dirt Time. Value each plant properly cared for CAN give you between 5-10 pounds of potatoes. The more you learn the BETTER your results. The Value of LEARNING how to grow some food, Priceless.
That and MOST Folks who are not gardeners KNOW what a potato plant LOOKS like. I’ve hidden them from HOA’s by planting them in flower beds
The Holodomor (Ukrainian: Голодомо́р, romanized: Holodomór, IPA: [ɦolodoˈmor];[2] derived from морити голодом, moryty holodom, ‘to kill by starvation’),[a][3][4][5] also known as the Terror-Famine[6][7][8] and sometimes referred to as the Great Famine,[9] was a famine in Soviet Ukraine from 1932 to 1933 that killed millions of Ukrainians. The term Holodomor emphasises the famine’s man-made and intentional aspects such as rejection of outside aid, confiscation of all household foodstuffs and restriction of population movement. As part of the wider Soviet famine of 1932–33 which affected the major grain-producing areas of the country, millions of inhabitants of Ukraine, the majority of whom were ethnic Ukrainians, died of starvation in a peacetime catastrophe unprecedented in the history of Ukraine.[10] Since 2006, the Holodomor has been recognized by Ukraine[11] and 15 other countries as a genocide of the Ukrainian people carried out by the Soviet government.

What ALL city dwellers fail to think about is that their water and sewer systems work only because of electrical power that keeps it all moving, filtering, disinfecting, pumping, draining, discharging, spraying and more….
When the grid goes down water and sewer will both die. Yes, most systems have auxiliary generators that keep it all working as long as their is fuel on hand and someone remains on hand to refill the fuel tanks and put in the chemicals needed to sanitize the water. When grid goes down, fuel runs out, chemical supply dries up usually within days.
Water is your most fragile resource. Thinking you can catch enough rainfall to supply your needs is folly unless you invest significant infrastructure & expense to be ready.

    • Michael June 29, 2021 at 07:28

173 DVietvet rain water collection depends on what YOUR area gets for rain fall, the Collection Area you can effectively use and YOUR Ability to store it properly.
A small example my roof collection area is 28×40 feet. A 1 inch rain event will yield an 700 gallons of water, I can collect a little over half what hit it via my gutters as I have not set up the other side of my roofs gutters for collection yet. So I can almost fill up my garden 325 gallon IBC tote in a single hard rain. I use 5 gallon buckets with a 3/8 inch drain hole to irrigate my apple trees. Any week I don’t get a decent rain OR other signs the trees need water I fill that bucket up twice that week. The slow leak is far more water efficient than a blasting hose.
I am picking up a few more IBC totes this weeks and they plumb together pretty easily.
I trust my own rainwater collection more than uncontrolled surface water due to pollution by idiots.

I had heard that the holodomor killed somewhere around 40 to 50 million, and the Soviets did finally admit that any originally reported numbers had been purposely low, for propaganda purposes.
Of course, the NYT’s star reporter was actually praising Stalin, and the Soviets, for EVERYTHING, while their murderous policies were being perpetrated.
    MSM has ALWAYS been trouble.
Matt Bracken wrote about how the ‘disadvantaged,’ specifically Minority Urban Youths (MUY’s) could essentially paralyze a widespread area, if the EBT system is disrupted, but imagine an instantaneous blackout, aka EMP scenario, and how the ENTIRETY OF A NATION could be stopped in its tracks. The supply chain is immediately a non-issue, and every in-transit shipment OF ANYTHING is a fresh target..
Thank you for the reports, and for having the ability to do the clear thinking required to write them, so that we can all reap its benefits.

    • Luke June 29, 2021 at 12:12

I read Bracken’s WMS Essay about this time a year ago. Something was unsettling about it as the riots were going full throttle. Another thing and I suspect the most likely to start the MUY’s off is ONE guy finally standing up to the protected class. This could happen just about anywhere i think. Bracken is prophetic not sure even he saw just how powerful social media would become when he wrote that. I know the Arabs were doing the Spring about that time. Think about the radio broadcasts most associate with igniting the Rwandan genocide. Holy shit Twitter and FB is like that on steroids. I can see something akin to some guy being forced to stop at some blantifa event and either out of fear or anger unloading on them. With the right weapon it’s not going to take a lot of effort to take out a few if they’re packed in tight enough. Activate MSM news and social media feeding the anger 24/7 all across the land. I would say it’s a matter of When not If and doesn’t matter where it goes down because there’s no limits to this media.
