Von Steuben Training sends: Ohio TL Class and Future Plans

Good morning patriots! It was in February of this year that I ran my first Team Leader Class through Von Steuben T&C. Now, six months later, I am thrilled to announce that I am beginning to take my training outside of North Carolina. On December 11-12, I will run my first Team Leader Class at a hosted location in SE Ohio.
For those who missed the previous announcement, the Team Leader Class is now a 2-day course of instruction with many added elements, the result of several successful classes and insightful AARs. Remember, there is NO live fire in this class, and thus no ammo requirement. The new class syllabus is summed up as follows:
Friday (optional):

  • Early students arrive in the afternoon/evening
  • Night Vision familiarization

Saturday:

  • Remainder of students arrive, class starts at 0900
  • Part 1: Know your team
  • Part 2: Train your team
  • Fire Team level fire and movement drills (day and night)
  • Defensive Fundamentals
  • Patrolling basics (day and night)

Sunday:

  • Lesson: “The Godly Warrior” (optional)
  • Part 3: Lead your team
  • TDG exercise
  • Squad level Fire and Maneuver
  • AAR

In addition, I plan to offer more kinds of classes going forward. The following are classes that you can keep an eye out for within the next several months:
Patriot Sharpshooter
“My rifle and myself know that what counts in this war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, nor the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit…”
-Excerpt from the Rifleman’s Creed
This 2-day class focuses on fundamentals of rifle marksmanship in a field environment. Topics covered include marksmanship fundamentals, night shooting with night vision, communication when working within a team, and introduction to fire and movement. By the end of this course you will have the necessary skills and knowledge to make the most out of your ammo supply. Estimated round count: 300
Force-on-Force Lab
“No plan of operations extends with any certainty beyond the first encounter with the main enemy forces”
-Helmuth von Moltke the Elder
This is a 2-day airsoft-based event that will consist of several scenarios, day and night, where two groups of students will fight each other. Each team of students will be organized into a squad, select their squad leader, and get experience fighting a living, thinking enemy in the form of the other team of students. Students will live in the field, plan their own tactics, and experience the full spectrum of combat-related tasks from pre-combat checks and infiltration to personnel recovery and casualty evacuation.
Mission Planning & Tactics Online Course
I am now pleased to announce that I will be offering an online course in mission planning and tactics. This class will be at the students’ own pace, and consist of a series of lessons on tactics followed by Tactical Decision Games (TDGs). I will take time to give thorough, in-depth feedback on students’ answers to ensure that they learn as much as possible from their successes and mistakes. At this time I am still writing the course material, so I will post an announcement when this class is ready to offer.
For examples on the types of scenarios and feedback you will receive, check out my previous TDG Tuesday series here on AP:
TDG1 ANTIFA Roadblock
TDG2 Neighborhood Defense
TDG3 Security Patrol
TDG4 Alamo! Alamo! Alamo!
TDG5 Convoy Ambush

Acknowledgements
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped me get this far with VS T&C.  Thank you to everyone who has come out to my classes thus far, especially the test run of the TL class in February.  I want to thank my amazing wife for all of her support and assistance with the administrative aspects of the classes.  Last but certainly not least, a special thank you to NC Scout for kicking me in the pants to get started training people, for all his assistance getting this company off the ground, and for the invaluable advice and insight that he continues to give.
Keep an eye on the Von Steuben training schedule for when classes are scheduled. The next Team Leader Class is in North Carolina on October 30-31. Once again, the dates for the Ohio class are December 11-12. To register for a class, email me at [email protected]. I look forward to training with you.

I really like reading as I have many times about folks helping start new folks teaching and different teachers helping each other with classes(like live fire ect.).,all the teachers seem to have the common goal of getting folks more squared away, gives one a little hope in the world.
On a side note,is the screen to break up binoc glare or is there another reason I am missing?

    • Mike August 24, 2021 at 15:40

Correct, it helps mitigate glare off the lenses.

I always hate rubber bands and zip ties. Racing karts as a fun hobby, I primarily use Gear Ties for stuff like that bunching up fabric, cables and such for stuff that I’ll likely remove them later or as needed to clean crap off of things.

        Ah… Like Pin Hole Glasses.
Also, pin hole glasses one can read small type and focus in.
Punch a whole in a piece of paper, then take off your seeing eyes glasses
and notice that you can read looking through that little hole.
        DYI a pair too…
