Are You Risk Adverse?, by Jessie Blaine

“But what can I do?”, is a question I hear more and more frequently. On the surface, that seems like a logical question in the face of insurmountable odds. With the social friction around us, the pressure of the pandemic and the economic hardships people are experiencing, it all seems overwhelming. It can feel like the single actions of a person are inconsequential to the hum of the big machine.
But that is far from the truth.
However, I can’t help but wonder, if some people have become so risk adverse that they are unwilling to take any action at all?
More and more frequently, I find myself interacting with people that fall into the risk adverse category. They are paralyzed by the thought of having to make a decision or to take a chance. People seem hesitant to act because they don’t know what to do, or their perceived risks are misunderstood. Education, experience, and solid training can fix the first issue, but no one but yourself can fix the second problem.
Sure, there is a risk that you will be wrong and look foolish. But you know what? There is also a risk when you do nothing. And there is also a cost for inaction, and sometimes it is a greater price to pay.
“By nature, uncertainty invariably involves the estimation and acceptance of risk. Risk is inherent in war and is involved in every mission. Risk is equally common to action and inaction.” (Warfighting. MCDP1, United States Marine Corps. 1997. Page 9)
Since you will be exposing yourself to risk, either through action or inaction, why not make the exposure worthwhile and take a calculated risk in your favor?
Look, no one is advocating for foolish risks or haphazard chances. Everyone needs to remember that taking no action can be just as dangerous as acting and failing. You have permission to take risks, even when there is no assurance of success.
So, when the time comes, are you going to be ready to take a risk? You need to, because the lives of your loved ones and the strength of your community may just depend on it.
Here are a few ideas for the common question of, “But what can I do?”.

  1. Do a self-evaluation. Consider using the SWOT analysis method. Be honest or this is fruitless.
  2. Identify changes to make. Even small, incremental changes can add up over time. Make yourself an action item list and then hold yourself accountable. Ask your teammates to hold you accountable.
  3. Prioritize your health; spiritual, psychological, and physical. Listen, you won’t be helpful to anyone if you’re a basket case, a loose cannon or so unfit you can’t tie your shoes. Take care of yourself, both the inside and the outside.
  4. Listen to others; learn from their mistakes and leverage their successes. It’s a tragedy when subject matter experts (as found on American Partisan) offer suggestions and their words just fall on deaf ears. Listen to the people who have, “been there and done that”. Heed their words.
  5. Study and Train. Study with enthusiasm and train with a passion. Identify areas where you are lacking and then study like you are expected to be a subject matter expert. Train like your life might depend upon, because one day it just might.
  6. Read. A ton of books have been recommended throughout the articles on the American Partisan. Read them. Implement what’s learned.
  7. Find a mentor. No one is expected to do this alone and at some point, we all need input, guidance and help. If you ever find yourself where you don’t need a mentor, then go BE a mentor.

There is no “one size fits all” approach to the question of, “But what can I do?”. Everyone here has a different background with different experiences, and we are all in different stages of life. But what we have is a common goal of preserving civil liberties, protecting human rights, and respecting the rule of law. With the decayed state of the union, you need to have a plan of action, expect to experience adversity, and have a mindset for risk.
I remember when we were first taught about ambushes at boot camp. We were taught that, if we were ever caught in an ambush, the correct thing to do was to assault through the ambush. That seemed so absurd, to run into harm’s way…to run towards what was almost a certain death. After studying the doctrine, you realize, that assaulting through the ambush was better than nothing.
It was then, I truly appreciated the sentiment that taking some action is better than taking no action. We need everyone in the game, not on the sidelines. Get trained and stay ready.

    Awesome message. Much appreciated.

A good question A few of my wife’s coworkers are definitely risk adverse. Last spring when COVID closed most places down, they didn’t venture any where. Food delivered and even taking a walk in open by themselves, were all masked up.
The way I see it, when your time is up, not a thing you can do to prevent – stop it. So live your life taking reasonable precautions but LIVE YOUR LIFE.

There’s no doubt we all have deficits. This is a good list to remind us of what we might need work on. Several jumped out at me.
I would like to ask you guys a question if I may? After watching countries like Canada and particularly Australia I have tried to think of a scenario in which it could happen here. Perhaps if I am way off base maybe some of you Gents can publish a more realistic example of what might be coming. I think it is of benefit to start considering this now and how to handle.
The target, make no mistake about it, will be Deplorable areas. I can see disease numbers in unvax’d areas inflated and being used by the media this winter. State/local LE wants no part of a quarantine so the Fed Govt decides to send in the military/Nat Guard with some pretty heavy toys to make a statement. Because America has a 2nd A the soldiers will also be armed with live ammo. I can see the admin’s goal to be aggressive as “these unvax’d vermin need to learn their place.” To also put other areas in fear.
I can see it happening in suburbs or rural areas of particularly Blue States where they have the governor and judiciary on their side. Do any of you think this is likely and if not maybe you could outline a more plausible scenario. Either way I think we should be thinking about something like this now because this is not going to stop until something breaks.
    Thanks Luke

Many silver linings. For example, all the medical people fired or quitting can now serve the deplorables in a black market. Same with all the other professionals like .mil. No further vetting needed.

Like your optimism B21. One part of this post talks about psychological and spiritual deficiencies. Truth be told I suffer from both. Lol no I am not a nut (well maybe a little) but I have felt something ominous since the lockdowns started. It was not too long after I found Bracken which led me to you Chaps. NC explained once to me it was the the thought of being isolated they were trying to accomplish and project overwhelming dominance to create a feeling of hopelessness and a reluctance to stand. I am pretty certain he was correct.
Going back to my example (post above) would like to see you guys anticipate it. Mike (I think Tuesdays) would give examples of different scenarios. I would just read and try to learn because I had no fucking clue what to do. I have no military strategy mind but WTF neither do our leaders apparently. and that may be the biggest blessing of all. I suspect what I suggested comes our way soon. IDK its a hunch and I think sometime this winter they (our unpurged military) are coming to a small city/town near you.

You know something, I may have just answered my own question. Saw PMan’s Covid rollup today love it. It has a link in there about the FDA pushing back on the Admin regarding the booster shots. Here’s the thing, I posted a video of Mike Adams interviewing Del Bigtree. I understand Mike can be a little wild (heart in the right place) but Bigtree has solid credentials. Today I learned the CDC has overrode the FDA advisory board. They want booster shots for everyone. This tells me like Bigtree describes in the video they (admin) are scared of a little something something called ADE. I think the FDA is nervous about more clots. Anyhow they will move forward but I suspect the FDA decision got some Main Stream coverage and it might make some not take that 3rd shot. Ohhhh Lord that may not be good.
So with respect to my army colonizing local populaces theory; they can’t do shit if they are all scared of fevers. It hard to fight if you’re sick, even for Scout haha.

I don’t think you’re far off, Luke. It’s a reasonable supposition–and I happen to live in one of those resistance pockets in a blue state. (But then, can we trust red states, either?)
None of us is clairvoyant, so who knows exactly how it’s gonna play out? That said, the consistent enemy strategy is to take everything they can get peacefully before resorting to direct action. Everyone they can get to kill themselves off with the Darwin Stab, or turn in their firearms, and/or march obediently into the cattle trucks, reduces the risk THEY have to take. Then they just have to mop up whatever hard-headed Americans remain in those rural areas and suburbs. That’s probably how they look at it.
If we never take the initiative and wait until all our allies are picked off piecemeal ..that’s pretty much following the enemy’s script and letting them keep the initiative for the duration. For us to have any hope, we must take some serious risks before our own doors get kicked in.
