America The Prostrate
In a simplistic sort of way,
Across a desert lit by the moon.
America lay prostrate,
Lulled by prosperity’s tune.
Beautiful thing in a world gone mad,
Everyone knows the lies being spoke.
They spill from the mouths of bankrupt souls,
Leaderless people, morally broke.
The globe spins on, a compact disc,
Television soothes the planet.
Hard drives quietly think away,
Politicians run the gamut.
Prostrate pricks, sucking away,
At America’s aging tit.
Pay up now, or go to jail,
They care less, how you take the hit.
They act as if it will never end,
The Nazis felt much the same.
Fortify your home, your town,
These criminals have no real shame.
The knock on the door will surely come,
Midnight terror of the state.
Theft, lies, fraud and deceit,
Social incubators of pure hate.
Hang from a rope, they surely will,
These prophets of civic duty.
After the riots, the death, the trials,
Before these pirates split the booty.

When the Roman Empire was collapsing, there was massive unemployment. As a result, property taxes went through the roof in order to help compensate for lost government revenues (After all they had to pay for the bread and circuses somehow) . At first, farmers hid their produce and assets from the tax collectors. Then Rome hired neighbors to inform on ‘tax evaders’. Many families were executed and/or lost their farms. In the end the remaining farmers refused to produce anything at all. That was the final stage of Rome’s self-immolation.
It is likely that a similar scenario will occur here in the near future. It should be noted that it does not matter how much a property is valued at when the government seeks more money. It is a voracious beast that, unless constrained, will devour it’s host with no remorse. No one ‘owns’ their property as far as the government is concerned.
I have no property. I live in a box truck (down by the river..) I am in the process of identifying a local rancher/farmer who will allow me to squat on their property in exchange for security services when the balloon goes up. I have enough supplies so that I will be no burden to them for a few years. After that, I’ll probably be dead anyway. They can use this body for fertilizer for all I care. That is my ‘exit strategy’.
More than a few homeowners I talk too say they are in a bind. They want to move out here near the farms but too many out-of-state immigrants are driving the market up in a feeding frenzy. By the time locals sell/close they are already priced out of the market. There is no shortage of ‘Evangelical virtue signaling Loyalists’ either. This is turning out to be one shit-storm from hell. Who could ask for more?
