Days of Mayberry, by JDAR15

I grew up in Mayberry RFD. Mothers weren’t concerned where their children were. Children said yes Sir, yes Mam. Policemen were revered and respected. Soldiers were heroes. Many who could, went to Grandma’s and Grandpa’s for lunch after church. We laughed and heard stories about how hard their lives were. How they always were thankful for what they had. Socialism, Communism, drugs, sexual deviance were the dark topics of embarrassment, horror, disgust. And shamed and stamped out wherever they raised their ugliness. God was taken out of schools in the 60’s. Seedy, radical professors went from being the corrupted outlier,  to the “innovative”, and “enlightened”. Promiscuity slowly slithered in. “Let it all hang out”, they said. “It’s all about you”.
Self became the highlight.

Well, I miss my old America. I miss Grandma’s smile and wisdom. I miss the bitter old man down the road, who said he’d tell my Dad if he ever caught me doing that again.
I’m learning that the old men who used to sit on the park benches in coveralls at the court house and talk about what’s wrong with the world were right.

How do you persuade an “enlightened”, all about “me” nation to seek God in their lives?  How do we explain to a society bent on “progressive” values that going “backwards” returns us to God’s grace. And to a true fullness of life, they can find no other place?

Our time must be coming to an end. We, as believers have comfort in our hearts. But we also have sorrow.
Lord come quickly. 💔

I don’t know how, I want everyone saved as I am. you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink. I always told myself I wouldn’t be the old man bitter at change or how young people were. but our country has gone completely off the rails. it seems all I have left is seething rage.

You’re not alone, childhood was almost care-free for both kids and parents when i grew up.
To answer your question, I’ll repeat what my pastor told me: you have to let people reach the end of themselves. Not unlike the Prodigal Son, we can only show the light of truth and the way to the Father. Everyone has a choice and none are without excuse of ‘not knowing’ about God.
We have to make the community we want for ourselves, in the end.

How about a great big fat come to Jesus moment, like a comet strike.
Mandatory military service won’t work for to obvious reasons.
I know! De-fund the public schools?
Too late for that, damage is done.
    Back to that Jesus moment.

Amen. Bring the pain. It’s the only way these fools learn.

When I see a former Soviet Bloc country like Hungary stand tall and protect its children from the LGBTQ perversions as the US passes laws promoting such sick evil practices I know whats next for America.

Many of us are nostalgic for the 50’s- even if we didn’t live through them- and even if the “ideals” that were the 50’s, were somewhat bullshit anyways.
Humanity, and specifically the Western world, are splitting into 2. It’s starting with the vax, and the level of brainwashing we are willing to- or not willing to accept. But that rift will continue to widen as the transhuman agenda spreads.
I can tell you that of the kids in middle school right now- there is a wide gap already surfacing. While many girls already think they’re gay- there are also many kids who are totally rejecting the woke agenda and see right through it. I don’t know how this is going to shake out- but they won’t get us all.

Metaphors where and are still used as encryptions
way back and now. Eyes and Ears to see and hear
is as spiritual way back as it is now.

“The nations raged, but your wrath came, and the time for the dead to be judged, and for rewarding your servants, the prophets and saints, and those who fear your name, both small and great, and for destroying the destroyers of the earth.” Revelations 11-18

Mine seems like Mayberry compared now… a neighbor ole uncle Tommy Joe had his suspenders in the summer teaching me how to whittle when I was 5. And mom making me pick and de-leaf my own switch and make sure you get a big one because if its too small there was more trouble.
The only way back to what once was is more whoopin’s.

For many of us, life wasn’t perfect, but in so many ways, we grew up in idyllic times. Where I grew up, we rode our bicycles literally all over. Time was defined as “be home for dinner” things like pickup baseball, softball and football were routine. Abductions and things like that we’re not commonplace or overly a concern.
I don’t think all of the “progress” of the past 30 years or so has brought us real progress, only dissolution of many of the ties that kept us together and made our communities.
