The lowly spade… Good article. I got one of these as a Christmas gift a few years ago. This article has prompted me to look it over and maybe make some modifications.

I’ve had the Cold Steel version of this attached to my ATV for about 4 years and use it for digging and chopping. Great piece of kit.
I like the cold steel shovel too. I don’t own one but there’s usually a guy in every fieldcraft class with one and they are pretty solid.
