That certainly may have had some influence (they love max ROI). however taking out the pipeline was discussed before Russia demanded payment in Rubles, so it certainly wasn’t the holy grail for the action.
They were probably more worried that EU countries would dump the sanctions when winter comes. That they really hurt Germany was a bonus for them, as they have been working overtime to destroy Germany for a century.
