On Sunday, Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) threatened to cut funding for the FBI after the bureau’s corruption was exposed by whistleblower testimony, as well as Special Counsel John Durham’s final report.

As the Daily Caller reports, Jordan – who is also chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, as well as the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government – further discussed his plans for defunding the FBI with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo.

“In the end, money always gets people’s attention,” said Jordan. “And so, what we’re going to have to do is say, ‘Hey, FBI, you can’t use federal tax dollars, you can’t use the American tax dollars for this kind of activity.’ We got to limit how they spend the money.”

“We have to exercise our authority, the power of the purse, to limit what the federal government, what the FBI and Justice Department, are doing to the American people,” Jordan further explained, pointing out that the House of Representatives ultimately controls the government’s purse strings.

John Durham’s investigation, which lasted for four years, ultimately concluded that there was never any proof of “collusion” between President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign and the Russian government, determining that any claims to the contrary were fueled by partisan political actors and foreign agents actively trying to subvert the election in Hillary Clinton’s favor; the FBI ultimately accepted these claims as truth without verifying them, and used the power of federal law enforcement to illegally spy on the Trump campaign and several campaign officials.

On Thursday, three FBI whistleblowers testified before the Weaponization Committee to further reveal instances of corruption, political bias, and wrongdoing that they had witnessed as agents. The whistleblowers also revealed that the bureau actively retaliated against them for following the whistleblower protocols, with such measures as revoking their security clearances and threatening their pensions and benefits, thus risking financial instability for them and their families.
