They make a hellofa water bomber. 9
So, the USAF is dropping the A-10 JET and buying a PROPELLER driven aircraft! Hey, IF that’s what SOCOM wants, give it to them! Seems odd, while Russia and China pursue hypersonic weapons systems, that we’re using a modified “crop duster”. But, what does the average military veteran or advocate know? Personally, I am suspect of many of the current administration’s policies. Seems to me the White House has forced some pretty awful policies on the Pentagon.
Outside of the Alouette K-Car Helicopter gunship, our Close-In Air Support was Italian built Cessna 337 push pull propeller aircrafts (named the Lynx), unless we called in the Big Boy Hunter Jets.
The Lynx carried 3.5 rockets, twin Vickers manufactured Browning air cooled .303 mounted-over-the-pilot with a wooden handle pulled down that fired them.
If that didn’t do the job… Frantan canisters (Napalm). They’d hop in over the trees and saved our arses numerous times. Tree top level flight to avoid the Russian Strela 2 (like the Stinger).
I got almost too close to the action, probably 75 meters from, the Lynx dropping a Frantan canister once. The Rhodesian pilots were exceptional. We were all firing at these two pricks running across the front of us, when the Lynx dropped the canister… and I swear, it hit less than a shoe length from the heel of last Terr running. Toast.
On the battlefield of the past I played on… brilliant. But as Matt Bracken said to me recently after watch the YouKrains caught in a Russian minefield… “totally different battlefield now… go out and you’re dead.”
Same with this joke of an aircraft unless we’re slapping around goat herders or banana republics. On a relative basis to a peer equal enemy… scrap aluminum.

Maybe it could fly over the RF/CCP naval flotilla?
This aircraft is going to be used for domestic uses. Low, slow, and anticipating an enemy that won’t have much anti-air.
