In the last two weeks since the massive terrorist attacks against Israel, the Pentagon has scrambled military personnel all around the world and has even told some to prepare for deployment.

According to Axios, Pentagon officials have given the official reason as “surging support to Israel,” such as giving the country more air defense and munitions.

Currently, military aircraft and warships that have gathered in the Mediterranean Sea near Israel include: Two aircraft carrier groups, the USS Gerald Ford and the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower; two amphibious Navy vessels; and F-35, F-15, F-16, and A-10 fighter jets. One other ship, the USS Carney, is in the area and intercepted three missiles over the Red Sea that had “potentially” been fired at Israel.

The U.S. has also sent special forces to Israel to assist with strategy and intelligence support. Overall, about 2,000 troops have been ordered to prepare for deployment to the Middle East, though the likelihood of them serving in actual combat roles is small, according to the Pentagon.

However, White House officials have also hinted at the possibility of using American military force in the event that the terrorist group Hezbollah attacks Israel from Lebanon, which is directly to the north of Israel.

Tensions have reached an all-time high in the region following the attacks against Israel, which were first carried out by the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas on October 7th, killing 1,400 Israelis in one day. Fighting has continued raging in southern Israel, while Israel has launched retaliatory airstrikes against the Palestinian region of Gaza.
