‘A Living Miracle’: Wife Gives Update After Husband Shot In The Head While Preaching On Street Corner

A 26-year-old Christian man is making strong progress in his recovery after he was tragically shot in the head while preaching to passersby on a street corner in Glendale, Arizona.

Hans Schmidt was standing at the corner of a major intersection on November 15, telling people about a church service being held that evening, Fox 10 reported. At around 6:00 p.m., a person shot the street preacher before fleeing the scene. Schmidt, a military veteran and father of two young children — including a two-month-old baby — was rushed to hospital.

“In the blink of an eye our lives were changed,” Schmidt’s wife Zulya posted to Facebook on Thursday. “You are a living miracle. Every day I am amazed.”

“Seeing you hold our baby boy once again, waving at our baby girl. You have a long way to go, but God will carry us through,” she added, captioning photos of the family alongside Schmidt in the hospital. “Thank you to everyone who has been praying. Please continue to pray!!”

Earlier this month, Zulya said her husband being alive at all is a “miracle in itself.”

“Hans is fighting and working really hard every day,” she said. “Your prayers are not in vain. God is working behind the scenes and is using all of this for His glory. Hans is making progress. We have a long road ahead. But, we will gladly take it. God is good. Please continue to pray for us.”

“I can’t thank everyone enough for your thoughts, prayers, and donations,” Zulya added. “Thank you guys so much. God is moving. He has been with us every step of the way. We are still believing and contending for a supernatural recovery.”

Victory Chapel, where Schmidt serves as the outreach director, posted an update about Schmidt’s recovery progress last week. “God has moved tremendously these past few weeks and it’s because of your prayers,” the church posted. “Hans has shown improvement, and progress is being made.”

“While Hans continues to fight and work hard at his recovery, your prayers are still needed and highly valued by him and his family, as the journey is not over,” Victory Chapel added. “God is working behind the scenes and is using all of this for His glory. Believe and contend with us for a supernatural recovery.”

Victory Chapel has a page on its website where people can donate to Schmidt and his family.
