Bombshell claims suggest that a DEI-focused dean at UCLA’s renowned medical school has lowered standards by discriminating against white and Asian applicants, a startling trend among elite institutions Resist the Mainstream has covered in recent months.

One admission officer told the Washington Free Beacon (WFB): “All the normal criteria for getting into medical school only apply to people of certain races.”

The David Geffen School of Medicine in Los Angeles, known for its Nobel Prize-winning faculty, admits only 173 out of 14,000 applicants annually. However, since Jennifer Lucero became dean of admissions in June 2020, the school’s ranking has dropped from sixth to 18th.

Her arrival notably came soon after the death of George Floyd, and it coincided with an overhaul of the school’s curriculum.

Pre-clinical training was cut from two years to one to free up time for “community service,” for instance, and there’s been a tenfold increase in the number of students failing tests on basic medical knowledge in some subjects since 2020, per WFB.

Accusations against Lucero include flouting California’s affirmative action ban and hindering the career of a highly qualified doctor because he is a white man.

Another disturbing anecdote includes a student lashing out in an operating room and accusing a surgeon of picking on her after being asked to do a basic medical request, Daily Mail highlighted.

Other accusations have sparked outlining that the admissions bar for underrepresented minorities is now “as low as you could possibly imagine.”

WFB reported that some doctors at the school argue that without stellar stats, students can struggle to keep pace with the demanding curriculum.

The admissions committee considered a black applicant with grades and test scores far below the UCLA average back in 2021, and two people present at the meeting attest that some committee members felt that this candidate was not the best fit for the top-tier medical school.

Their reservations were reportedly not received well, however, even though it was based on the available evidence.

Lucero allegedly fired back, “Did you not know African-American women are dying at a higher rate than everybody else,” arguing, “we need people like this in the medical school.”

Another instance of Lucero’s DEI reign was when business was suspended for the day after a Native American applicant was rejected.

A furious Lucero reportedly subjected committee members to a two-hour lecture on indigenous history delivered by her sister.

The new dean is also accused of filling the 25-member admissions committee with hand-picked members and silencing dissenters by implying they are racist and threatening them with diversity training sessions, per WFB.

The outlet added that a majority of students are now flunking standardized tests in emergency medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, and pediatrics in certain cohorts.

One former admissions staff member called the institution a “failed medical school” due to the collapse in standards.

Daily Mail noted that admitting students based on racial criteria has been banned in California since 1996 and federally since a Supreme Court ruling last year. However, faculty members claim Lucero has ignored these bans.

This incident followed what the Secret Service has identified as a “medical incident” suffered by the agent in question.
