Biden’s Attempt To Assure Voters In MSNBC Call Backfires
After several calls from his fellow Democrats asking him to step down, President Joe Biden decided to take matters into his own hands Monday morning. Calling into MSNBC, he pleaded with voters that he could still beat former President Donald Trump. However, it was a repeat of his performance at the presidential debate last month.
Calling into Morning Joe with hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, Biden reassured listeners that he was not stepping down. Unfortunately for the president, he appeared to have difficulties finding his words and staying on topic.
“I am not letting up a little bit and by the way, you know, you know, France registered, uh, you know, I, look, you talk about Europe…,” he said while trying to explain his decision to stay in the race.
During the call, Brzezinski brought up the president’s nightmarish debate performance from last month, asking how he could assure voters that it would not happen again.
“Look at my career,” he said. “I have not had many of those nights. It was a terrible night and I really regret it happened.”
Brzezinski asked the president if he had participated in any type of tests for age-related illnesses, such as Parkinson’s, to explain his difficulty forming complete sentences at the debate. Biden attempted to shrug it off, blaming it on “a bad night.”
He insisted that there was nothing medically wrong, saying that he had been challenging himself.
“The night of that debate, I went out. I was out until 2 o’clock in the morning that very night. That very night. It drives me nuts people talking about this,” he said.
Biden also made some bold claims, one being that the average American would stay in his corner.
“The American public is not going to move away from me,” he said.
Biden said that he had two jobs, one being to rebuild the economy to give everyone “a fair chance.” When it came to the second job, the president appeared to go off-topic. Instead, he focused on claims that he had lost the black vote, to which he replied, “Give me a break.”
“Come on, watch, watch!” He screamed.
Biden said he was getting “frustrated” that others in his party believe he is not up for the job. He then insisted that any of them could run against him.
“Challenge me at the convention,” he told his liberal critics.
To make matters worse, it appeared that Biden had a script written out of what he was supposed to say. At one point in the conversation, listeners could hear the sound of papers shuffling as he was stuttering, trying to find the right words and stay on topic.
While Biden seems confident that most Americans will reelect him, the polls suggest the opposite. A recent poll conducted by USA TODAY/Suffolk University shows that 51 percent of respondents said they approve of Trump, compared to 41 percent approving of the president.
