Dems Openly Admit to Counting Illegal Ballots in Pennsylvania Senate Race
Democrat officials in Pennsylvania’s blue counties are now facing scrutiny after some openly admitted to counting disqualified ballots in the highly contested Senate race between Republican Dave McCormick and incumbent Democrat Bob Casey, as reported by Fox News. Despite the Associated Press declaring McCormick the winner by a margin of 26,000 votes, Casey has yet to concede, insisting on the counting of every ballot cast.
“I think we all know that precedent by a court doesn’t matter anymore in this country,” Democrat Bucks County Commissioner Diane Ellis-Marseglia declared Thursday as she and others of her party voted to deny a GOP-led challenge to ballots that are not supposed to qualify.
“People violate laws anytime they want. So, for me, if I violate this law, it’s because I want a court to pay attention. There’s nothing more important than counting votes.”
With the vote margin currently under one percentage point, Pennsylvania law mandates an automatic recount. The stakes in this election highlight significant tensions surrounding electoral integrity, as some counties appear to be ignoring a Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruling that states mail-in ballots must have required signatures or dates to be counted.
There are approximately 80,000 provisional ballots currently pending, officials estimate, which account for less than two percent of the total votes cast.
In Montgomery County, county officials debated the fate of 180 provisional ballots that were submitted without required secrecy envelopes. Democrats are advocating for the inclusion of these ballots in order to prevent what they describe as voter disenfranchisement. They argue that dismissing ballots over clerical errors infringes on constitutional rights. Conversely, Republicans assert that these actions constitute attempts to alter the election outcome unlawfully.
In parallel, legal disputes concerning undated mail-in ballots are underway. The Republican National Committee is pressing the state Supreme Court to reinforce its prior ruling excluding ballots that lack the necessary documentation. This conflict has led some Republicans to accuse Democrats of attempted electoral fraud, arguing that illegal ballot counting could influence the election results significantly.
