DNC Insider Blasts Kamala Harris Campaign as Financial Catastrophe
Lindy Li, a member of the Democratic National Committee’s finance committee, has openly criticized Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign, labeling it a ‘$1 billion disaster.’ During an appearance on television, Li expressed her disappointment with the campaign’s financial management and the misleading expectations set for donors.
Li highlighted alarming financial figures, noting that the Harris campaign is currently facing a debt of approximately $20 million after raising more than $1 billion. This figure was part of a broader total exceeding $1.6 billion when including affiliated groups. Despite these impressive fundraising numbers, the campaign’s inability to secure a victory in the election has raised serious concerns among party members about the efficacy of the strategic decisions made throughout the race.
The swift endorsement of Harris by President Joe Biden, who unexpectedly dropped out of the presidential race, has drawn scrutiny. Li characterized Biden’s endorsement as a dismissive gesture towards the Democratic Party, indicating it lacked consideration for the party’s members and their support. She stated during her television appearance that this move, coming just 30 minutes after Biden’s withdrawal, felt like a ‘big F you’ to fellow Democrats.
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi also criticized the timing of Biden’s exit, suggesting that an earlier departure could have allowed for a more open primary process, potentially leading to different candidates entering the race.
