Jill Biden Encourages Joe to ‘Burn the Whole Thing Down’ in Last Month in Power: Report
As President Joe Biden’s term nears its end, reports suggest that First Lady Jill Biden has been urging her husband to exact revenge on former allies they feel have wronged them, particularly after he decided to end his re-election bid.
Biden’s recent pardon of his son Hunter, which came after months of publicly vowing not to make such a move, has particularly angered many senior members of the Democratic Party.
The pardon was part of a broader act of clemency that included commutations for around 1,500 sentences, marking the largest single-day clemency action in U.S. history. Among those pardoned was an individual linked to the Chinese Communist Party who had been caught with child pornography on his computer.
Sources have revealed that Jill has encouraged her husband to continue challenging his critics.
“Jill views Democrats on Capitol Hill, the [wider] party, the Obamas, staff inside and outside the White House, the media, and all of Washington DC with such misguided resentment that I can’t imagine she [isn’t] encouraging [Joe] to burn the whole thing down, despite his better judgment,” one source told the Daily Mail.
One key target of Biden’s frustration is former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who has long been considered a close ally of the president. Pelosi played a significant role in pressuring Biden to step down, reportedly even calling him hours before he publicly announced his decision.
Since that betrayal, Biden has distanced himself from Pelosi, with many speculating that their relationship is beyond repair. At this year’s Kennedy Center Honors in Washington, D.C., Pelosi was noticeably seated far from the Bidens, out of their direct line of sight.
In previous years, Pelosi and her husband, Paul Pelosi, had been honored guests in the presidential box, but this time, they were relegated to the orchestra section on the main floor.
Also in attendance were Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff. As is customary for the vice president, they were seated in the presidential box next to the Bidens. However, sharp observers noted that when the crowd stood to welcome the president and first lady, neither of them acknowledged Harris or Emhoff with a glance.
Democratic mega-donor and Florida attorney John Morgan has speculated that Biden’s choice to pick Harris as his running mate may have been a deliberate move to undermine Pelosi and former President Barack Obama.
Morgan suggests that Biden’s swift endorsement of Harris, immediately following his withdrawal from the 2024 race, could have been a strategic decision to sideline Pelosi and Obama, both of whom reportedly had reservations about Harris’s qualifications and worked behind the scenes to encourage Biden to step aside.
“[Biden] basically had the palace coup from all directions, from George Clooney to Pelosi. I think he got pissed off [and] said, ‘F*ck you,’ and gave us Harris,” Morgan said. He added that Pelosi had previously assured her delegation that there would be a convention and a formal nominating process, and Obama did not endorse Harris for five days.
Some officials have disclosed that Biden believed Harris could win the election, while others remained doubtful.
“It’s almost Shakespearean that Biden didn’t just kill his own campaign, he killed hers, too,” a Harris campaign adviser told The Washington Post.
