In a shocking new development, evidence has emerged suggesting direct involvement from the Biden administration in initiating the investigation into President Donald Trump’s alleged role in the riots at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 2021.

Sens. Ron Johnson (R-WI) and Chuck Grassley (R-I) are pushing for full transparency and released new emails from FBI whistleblowers to substantiate their claims. These emails show that Jonathan Su, Biden’s then-Deputy White House Counsel, played a pivotal role in assisting the FBI by securing Trump’s and former Vice President Mike Pence’s phones to support the “Arctic Frost” investigation into Jan. 6, Just the News reports.

The whistleblower emails also show that Special Counsel Jack Smith’s team and anti-Trump FBI agent Timothy Thibault were involved early in the investigation. Operation Arctic Frost laid the groundwork for the “false elector” case, in which Trump was later charged with a conspiracy to defraud the U.S. for attempting to gather alternate electors after the 2020 election.

According to Grassley and Johnson, these emails demonstrate close collaboration between the FBI Washington Field Office and prosecutors from the U.S. Attorney’s Office. The communication reveals how the probe was planned and executed.

The senators highlighted the involvement of Thibault, who had raised concerns within the FBI but whose actions were pivotal in advancing the investigation.

“The emails show the Biden White House’s direct role in providing Trump’s and Pence’s phones to the FBI, even though neither man was a criminal subject at that time,” Grassley and Johnson stated in their letter.

This discovery underscores the significant coordination between federal agencies and the White House, something the senators are now seeking to fully understand.

One key email, dated May 2, 2022, from U.S. Attorney’s Office Criminal Chief John Crabb to Su, shows Crabb asking Su to help coordinate the handover of the phones. Su responded promptly, ensuring the phones were transferred within days.

By May 4, the phones were in FBI possession, despite Trump not yet being a criminal target in the investigation.

This information adds further layers of complexity to the origins of the FBI’s probe into Jan. 6. Grassley and Johnson are pressing for the full release of documents related to the investigation to understand how the White House’s direct involvement shaped the outcome.

In a separate development, Johnson and Grassley previously exposed that Thibault, an FBI agent fired in 2024 for violating the Hatch Act, played a key role in shaping Smith’s case. Thibault was accused of influencing investigations to undermine Trump’s campaign, according to Just the News.

One email revealed that Thibault handpicked agents to help conceal his involvement in the probe while also working to get the investigation officially approved by FBI leadership.

The senators have now focused their attention on the early involvement of Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas Windom, who would later join Jack Smith’s team. Emails among FBI agents show Windom’s early coordination efforts, including his work on conducting interviews and issuing subpoenas related to the investigation.

Grassley and Johnson’s letter continues to request that the DOJ and FBI produce all documents related to the Arctic Frost investigation, including the timeline of when Trump became a criminal subject in the probe. The senators set a deadline of April 21 for the release of the documents.

“The involvement of the Biden White House in the Arctic Frost investigation raises serious questions about the political motivations behind this probe,” Grassley and Johnson wrote.

Their ongoing efforts are aimed at ensuring full accountability and transparency in a case that has continued to stir controversy.
