The CEO of Tyson Foods announced Monday that the company has been working to remove petroleum-based synthetic dyes in food products and plans to have the process completed by the end of May.

CEO Donnie King said on an earnings call that most of the company’s retail-branded products, including the chicken nuggets, already don’t have those types of dyes, according to the Reuters news outlet.

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and FDA Commissioner Marty Makary announced last month that the agencies would require food companies to remove synthetic dyes from their products.

Kennedy praised Tyson Foods in a post on X.

“Just 13 days after @HHSgov +@US_FDA announced plans to phase out petroleum-based synthetic dyes from the nation’s food supply, Tyson Foods today reported it will eliminate these dyes by the end of May,” he wrote on X Monday.

“I look forward to seeing more companies follow suit and put the health of Americans first,” his post concluded. “Together, we will Make America Healthy Again.”
