As Predicted On SOL : The Housing Market and The Return to Work Order

As Discussed on an SOL Episode 110, Around the 30 minute Mark, Everyone’s Favorite Chechen General Doppelgänger and I noted that Trump’s “Return to The Office Work Order”, or whichever name it goes by, will affect the housing market. Specifically in the larger metropolitan Areas. Most of which have federal offices.

Below is a Youtube video discussing the real estate market.

And, Of Course, Washington D.C. is no exception for obvious reasons.

A house half the size of mine has seen a 50% increase because I am within a reasonable commute to D.C. and I am in a great public school zone.

I bought my house 3 years ago… [Begins slow clap]

When I began to seriously look for housing, I was limited to the $350,000-400,000 options because everything else was selling too fast for me to even act on it. There were only 5 options available at my time of purchase in a metropolitan area nearly half the size of Los Angeles. I did NOT want to spend this money. I HAD to spend this money.

Needless to say, my Mortgage is nearly $3,000 a month all required costs factored. Taxes, Insurance, and Interest…

And that, my friends, is a serious problem to anyone who has to return to work.

The only people who can reliably commit to a house in this economy are people who have steady reliable income. Specifically, those who got into affordable housing early due to reliable income and have a permanent second hand cashflow.

And Dual Income houses.

Another factor is the “1st” retirement crowd, who are those paid monthly for their first “20 Year” retirement. Or are near enough to retirement to justify buying a house.

For those that don’t know, buying housing is quite the invasive process in terms of personal financial details.

Currently, I would say 60% of future Americans under 40 will never own a house. And not through any fault of their own.

Little things, not discussed in the podcast, such as the double or triple cost of car insurance that varies by neighborhood and street can make a house unaffordable. My own insurance has swung from $50 a month to $150 a month and back. Just based on the street I live on in a D.C./Baltimore neighborhood.

Another factor, That house in the class 6 or 7 flood zone can have triple the cost of home insurance compared to a class 1 or 2. Which can be as much as $600-$800 for a 6-7 flood Zone.

Making certain houses completely unaffordable. Though they appear to be priced competitively.

Add in $500-1000 a month in Property taxes and you can see how suddenly even the hardest working Americans are living off rice and beans, with one lightbulb, no A/C, and well over 50% of their income dedicated towards housing.

And we haven’t even factored in the costs for a wife, kids, Girlfriend, car note, parking, municipalities, gas, fuel, heating, electricity, savings, food, etc…

For those that don’t know, a $350,000 house, will cost the buyer about $80,000 in interest and taxes just during the first 5-7 years.

This is money that essentially disappears into the economy. When someone sells a house, they need to recover some of this money. Ergo, this translates into yet another of the many reasons why housing costs go up every year.

Houses also require consistent $500-1000 repairs at any given time.

Per the article below,

“Data from May 2024 showed that an estimated 10 percent of federal civilian employees work remotely full-time, or about 228,000 workers, according to Office of Management and Budget.”

Anyway, Too hell with these leftist government parasites and their work from home nonsense.

No more Majestic Mountains in Billings Montana, Daily Smoke-a-thons in Colorado, and 20 Minute commutes to Ocean Side access in Florida.

Get back to work and suffer the consequences of draining your bank accounts just to eat and pay for Netflix, or find a job for $18-$30 an hour job like normal Americans.

The fact that a certain portion of Federal Employees thought they could move to their dream vacation home 25 years before any Average American could even consider is ridiculous.

The next articles we will read are going to be the increase in divorces and declarations of bankruptcy Thanks to Trump.

I predict this will occur before the next tax season. Probably right before the holidays.

Self righteous Leftists being financially eaten alive because of their justice system policies and immigration policies turning the housing market upside down is hilarious.

Remember Lefties, You can always engage in heavy policing of troubled neighborhoods and initiate gentrification policies to colonize troublesome neighborhoods for a closer commute.

I would get started on that now so that you have affordable housing by the next administration.

Those 2+ hour D.C. metro commutes with no bathroom are awful…

Have Fun Sitting in Traffic working a job full well knowing it will NEVER positively affect your financial situation is hilarious to me.

And if you rent an apartment and have to pay $300 a month for a parking spot…

I hope you only have one luxury Mercedes…

Wife and I were only able to afford a house thanks to my parents acting as our private lender.

Given the housing market right now in my area, it’s doubtful that we will be able to move which we desperately need as we are too crammed in this place now with three kids.

I work a full-time job and a part-time job just to get by. It’s absolutely vicious.
