NC Scout: Damn the Optics, They Simply Can’t Help Themselves

Yesterday it was widely being reported that the communist insurgents in Los Angeles were beginning to distribute American flags. Why? Well, simple. Turns out the optics of Mexican flags being flown amid rampant lawlessness aren’t good for winning over Joe Normie on the teevee. To the experienced eye, however, any move at trying to shift visible ideology is short lived at best. They simply can’t help themselves, trying in vain to hide the open contempt they have for America, her laws, and yes, the people who encompass it.

In recognizing that this is indeed a phase of color revolution unfolding in the streets the objective of carrying large numbers of flags is twofold: create a rallying symbol to the protestors while implanting the notion of mass discontent, thus justifying the eventual downfall of the targeted government. It is a technique well known in sociological circles which we call “mass collective action” and you hear the media call “nonviolent protests”. They’re not nonviolent at all, that’s the inside joke. But the term is repeated ad nausem as part of the psychological effect. They’re just peacefully demanding you do whatever the mob wants, lest they come and destroy your business.

American flags started being distributed once the backlash started on social media. Left wing political organizations that we all know and loathe use webcrawlers and data analytics to measure the ambient temperature and surely the pushback is not good. Despite what they might have you believe, they are in fact the vast minority in the US with increasing waning support as Trump’s overall approval rating remains among the highest for this point in a Presidential term.

The problem is these people fundamentally hate America which is the entire reason they’re in the streets. It is not about the current thing, it is about Marxist Revolution. In their worldview the use of force, manifested here in the form of ICE rounding up known criminal invaders, is a crack in the dam of legitimacy. To the revolutionary cadre behind these protests, the William Ayers types well insulated by their academic breeding ground, this is a call to arms. America to them is a symbol of Capitalism manifest and thus a thing to be destroyed. They absolutely hate Trump as the embodied symbol of Capitalism and thus the locus of their argument, always a simplistic dichotomy, is the migrant worker against the boot of the very same Capitalist exploitation. They see you and I, the Middle Class, as the product of that very same Capitalist class they seek to destroy. Antonio Gramsci, venerated saint of Marx, defined us as the vanguard enforcing the ruling hegemony. The contemporary term used these days to indoctrinate undergrads in their second year of sociology is ‘marketplace men‘. Of course the laity doesn’t comprehend this concept and I’d wager the bulk of the street show doesn’t quite understand it, but then again the foot soldier rarely understands the complexities of large scale maneuver in warfare. And make no mistake, its a war they seek to widen.

This concept of a war against the middle class is the underlying meaning of Gil Scott Heron’s black liberation song ‘The Revolution will not be Televised”. Television, and thus social media in the modern era, serves as a pacification to both the Left and Right mainstream which are where political arguments solidly reside, framed rather cryptically to message the middle class and the middle class alone. What he’s suggesting is that the revolution is happening under your nose and you don’t even know it. He certainly wasn’t wrong and here we are.

Let’s revisit the issue with flags and the political optics. Despite the smiles and bold-but-empty statements in front of the camera, Newsom is in a full blown panic. This is a man who’d positioned himself as a moderate centrist for an expected Presidential run in 2028, rebranded with a dull podcast interviewing well known conservative mouthpieces such as Steve Bannon and Michael Savage, now faced with an impossible task: continue the moderate positioning which would necessitate agreeing with Trump on a basic level, a losing move among both the radical base already not enamored with him and the lipstick liberal crowd, or shift to embracing the left which will destroy any chance of a centerist / neoliberal position leaving him the next McGovern. He can’t have what is widely viewed as his voting base waving Mexican flags atop burning cars while shooting at his police. Disorder cannot last long. The hardcore communists that make up California’s entrenched bureaucracy have made their choice. On the street they know he’s nothing more than an empty suit and more importantly speaks to that oh-so-terrified middle class faced with their normalcy of life being disturbed. The game’s on at 5.

That very same militant Left, stoking the flames of their revolution they’ve been steadily building for decades now, unabated, fundamentally hate the United States represented by its flag. This is why after successful color revolutions the flag of a nation is always changed. It cannot represent the old order. Politically their allies who know this, the washed up Bernie bros, are screaming at them to fly American flags to introduce a moral question to law enforcement on the street level all across the US: these are your people protesting, switch sides, just as in Tahir Square, Euromaidan, etc. But it’s not working. They cannot hide the contempt for long, in this case, not even 24 hours. The street communist cares not for the political optics. He is a revolutionary. He exists outside that established order and he aims to burn it down. Despite the media bombardment, the staged man on the street style interviews with crying women, the message of wanton destruction and the waving of foreign flags cannot be overcome. And the emboldened communists don’t give a damn.
