Pentagon stops some Ukraine aid due to low reserves: Report

Original article here

The Department of Defense has paused the supply of some air defense missiles and other weapons to Ukraine as the Pentagon believes its own reserves have been depleted to the point of causing security concerns.

The move is sure to prove a blow to the Ukrainian war effort as Russian forces claim modest breakthroughs across the warfront from Sumy all the way to Zaporizhzhia.

Pentagon Policy Chief Elbridge Colby was reportedly responsible for the pause, Politico reported, citing “three people familiar with the issue.” The Pentagon has, since 2022, supplied arms to Ukraine. The outbreak of the Israel-Gaza conflict further strained resources as the U.S. supplied Israel and aided in its air defense operations while a Trump-ordered expedition against the Houthis further contributed to depleted munitions.

The Trump administration briefly paused intelligence sharing with Ukraine earlier this year due to a dust-up between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
