DNI Tulsi Gabbard Blasts ‘Deep State Warmongers’ for Attempting to Sabotage Trump Ukraine Peace Talks
Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard is challenging what she calls a “false narrative” being pushed by “Deep State warmongers and their propaganda media” trying to sabotage President Trump’s Ukraine peace talks.
In comments made Saturday during her appearance at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest in Phoenix, Arizona, Gabbard took direct aim at those who she says are seeking to undermine the Trump administration’s efforts to help end the bloody war between Russia and Ukraine.
Gabbard warned that both the European Union (EU) and NATO are using war propaganda to attempt to pull the U.S. military into a direct conflict with Russia, saying, “We cannot allow this to happen.”
The Director of National Intelligence pushed back hard against a recent article by Reuters that claims that new U.S. intel shows that Russian president Vladimir Putin intends to take over all of Ukraine and territories of the former Soviet bloc states, including some current members of NATO.
Gabbard blasted Reuters, accusing them of “promoting this false narrative to block President Trump’s peace effort, and fomenting hysteria and fear among the people to get them to support the escalation of war.”
The Reuters article quotes Mike Quigley, a Democratic member of the House Intelligence Committee, who told the news agency, “The intelligence has always been that Putin wants more. The Europeans are convinced of it. The Poles are absolutely convinced of it. The Baltics think they’re first.”
Gabbard responded to those claims in a post on X, saying, “The truth is the US intelligence community has briefed policymakers, including the Democrat HPSCI member quoted by Reuters, that US Intelligence assesses that Russia seeks to avoid a larger war with NATO. It also assesses that, as the last few years have shown, Russia’s battlefield performance indicates it does not currently have the capability to conquer and occupy all of Ukraine, let alone Europe.”
The DNI’s comments came after Trump envoy Steve Witkoff held productive talks with Russian and Ukrainian representatives in Miami as part of an ongoing diplomatic effort to bring the 4-year conflict to an end.
