Rest in peace, Mr. Adams. May the Lord receive you as he received the Thief on the Cross.
I hope the man’s faith in the Lord Jesus Christ was genuine, and will have to assume it was.
I know the King is exceedingly merciful and generous, saving many even in their final moments of life (like the thief on the cross). We also see this truth in the parable of the workers in the vineyard (Matthew 20). The Owner of the vineyard is profoundly generous.
My father, a sincere lifelong Christian recently died and went to be with the Lord. We really miss him, but are certain we will meet again. While Dad was in hospice, the hospice chaplain mentioned that she baptized around 15 patients each week.
Being a Bible believing Calvinistic Baptist, I don’t believe women should be pastors, yet I still rejoice in the saving mercy of the Lord Jesus that this report seems to point to.
Christ is not simple fire insurance, and false professions happen. Nonetheless, the saving grace of God is freely available to all who humbly call on Him, and impending death can humble a person, and help turn a mind to matters of eternal importance.
None of us can defeat death, but there is One Man who did.
Adams confessed that Jesus is Lord. That is a really good thing.
Hail & farewell
We are diminished.
