1: Largest ethnic minority is the Azerbaijanis/turks (also called Azeris) in Iran.
2:Iranian Kurdish parties:
PJAK (PKK ideological based confederalism or whatever the system is called now, members move between parties (a lot fought in rojava and also basur against Isis) Turkey dislikes (key point here going forward as it’s unlikely Turkey will allow a strong PJAK like SDF was in Syria)
PDKI sometimes called KDPI
oldest party, Democratic, non-separatist, was 2 parties from 2006 until like 2021 or so (PDKI=Hijri & PDK-I Khalid Azizi) They now operate as 1 party again. Historically left leaning, now centrist since late 90s/early 2000s.
Komala: was 3 parties at one time, 2 parties have joined the coalition. 1 party (communists did not join) Democratic, non-separatist, revolutionary left leaning but since 2000s it’s center left for 2 main parties but the smaller splinter hardline group. Leadership: Mohtadi, Elkhanizadeh that are the 2 main parties. Alizadeh leads or led Komala-CPI (actual communists)
Sazmeni Xebat: historically Sunni political Islam. Since 90s democracy with respect to secularism and self determination. Not separatists either. Leader: Baba Sheikh Hosseini
PAK: democratic, self determination, center right leaning compared to other parties. Leader: Yazdanpanah
Most members to least: PDKI, Komala, PAK, PJAK(I am not including PKK or SDF as a lot of PJAK fighters and members intermix)Sezmani Xebat, Komala-CPI
Funding:Komala, PDKI, PJAK, PAK, sezmani xebat, Komala-CPI
Fighters with experience: PJAK(IF YOU INCLUDE/FIGURE IN PKK OR SDF THAT WILL JOIN), PAK, PDKI, Komala, sezmani xebat, Komala-CPI
Modern weapons: PAK, Komala, PDKI, PJAK, sezmani xebat, Komala-CPI
Most Influence in Iranian Kurdistan:
This depends largely on the region of the Kurdish areas in Iran. Most parties have areas they were historically popular in. This is always an arguing point between parties. But in my opinion. Komala, PDKI, PAK, PJAK, Sezmani Xebat, Komala-CPI
Most militant youth: PAK, Komala, PJAK, PDKI, Sezmani Xebat, Komala-CPI
Please note I’m not including the Kurdish Muslim brotherhood or weird Islamic offshoots. They for a large part are inconsequential currently in regards to opposition parties of the Kurds.
ALL THE REPORTS ON CIA WEAPONS IS BULLSHIT. Outside of what was acquired from fighting Isis, most weapon stocks are from Iran/iraq war, KRG vs Iraq war and what has been bought off the black market. If the CIA does send weapons etc I’d expect it after a foothold is taken not before.
