Newly surfaced intelligence is raising questions about possible connections between the man who carried out a terror attack at a Michigan synagogue and the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah.

Authorities identified the attacker as Ayman Mohamed Ghazali, a Lebanese-born U.S. citizen who rammed a vehicle into Temple Israel on March 12 before opening fire.

Armed security personnel exchanged gunfire with the suspect, who died during the confrontation. One security guard was injured after being struck by the vehicle, while others escaped harm.

According to information highlighted by Israeli officials, Ghazali’s brother, Ibrahim Muhammad Ghazali, was reportedly a commander within Hezbollah responsible for overseeing weapons operations tied to rocket attacks against Israeli civilian areas.

Two of his brothers, including the commander, were reportedly killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting a Hezbollah military site shortly before the synagogue attack in the United States. His niece and nephew also died, news reports said.
