Senator Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) was found “unconscious” at his Washington, D.C. home last month, after possibly suffering a heart attack, according to the New York Post.

A DC Fire and EMS dispatch call was made public Tuesday, revealing that an Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance was sent to his residence at 9:00 a.m. on June 14.

An ALS worker on the call mentioned that there was “CPR in progress” for a “cardiac arrest.”

McConnell, 84, was subsequently rushed to a local hospital and has not been seen in public ever since.

The day of the medical emergency, the senator’s spokesperson said McConnell “was admitted to the hospital this morning” and “receiving excellent care,” according to The Post.

A day later McConnell’s office said the senator “is fully engaged with staff on Senate business and Kentucky matters and is very appreciative of the outstanding care he is receiving.”

Majority Leader John Thune backed that information up on June 15, telling reporters that the senator “is clearly dialed in” to Senate matters. “He’s following along with stuff we are doing this week up here. Very much so,” Thune said.

Further details regarding McConnell’s health condition have not been publicly disclosed.

The Kentucky senator, who stepped down from his party leadership role in 2024, is in his seventh term and is currently the longest-serving senator in state history.

He announced in February 2025 that he would not seek re-election and his current term ends in January.

The octogenarian has suffered several falls in recent years, as well as several concerning episodes of freezing in public.

McConnell’s office issued its most recent statement last week, saying: “Senator McConnell is still working closely with staff on Senate business and Kentucky matters as he continues his recovery. However, he will not be voting this week.”

The Senate is on recess until July 13.
