President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that the U.S. Navy has cleared all remaining mines from international waters in the Strait of Hormuz, while warning Iran that any attempt to deploy new mines will draw an immediate military response.

Iran placed mines in the strategically critical waterway during its ongoing conflict with the United States and Israel, disrupting maritime traffic through one of the world’s most important energy corridors.

“I have just been informed by the United States Navy that all mines have been removed and/or detonated from within the International Waters of the Strait of Hormuz,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Trump warned Tehran that the United States would enforce a “Zero Tolerance” policy against renewed mining operations.

“Iran has been notified that any ship or boat placing new mines will be immediately and systematically destroyed,” Trump said.

The president added that the U.S. Space Force is monitoring the strait, along with Iranian nuclear sites targeted during the conflict.

The announcement marks another U.S. effort to restore maritime traffic through the strait after Iran sought to choke off shipping in the region. The United States has responded with military operations aimed at maintaining control of key shipping lanes.

The Strait of Hormuz connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and serves as a critical route for global oil and natural gas shipments. Disruptions to traffic through the narrow passage can quickly affect international energy supplies and prices.

The current war began in late February with U.S. and Israeli strikes against Iran that killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and targeted the country’s nuclear and military infrastructure.

A ceasefire temporarily halted major hostilities, but fighting resumed after negotiations failed to produce a lasting agreement.

Trump has demanded that Tehran commit to never acquiring a nuclear weapon, a condition Iran has so far refused to accept.
