China is aggressively developing an AI-driven, highly advanced military robotics program that could see automated humanoid robots for active combat roles on future battlefields.

The Daily Wire reports that the Communist Chinese government is carefully eyeing technology that was showcased at the recent World Humanoid Robot Games.

The People’s Liberation Army’s official newspaper, on Monday, called for a move to develop combatant capabilities in the humanoid robots that danced, ran, and boxed at the games.

After reviewing “more than 100 Chinese military procurement notices, academic studies, patents, official publications, government records and defense-company materials,” Reuters concluded that the Chinese government has dramatically accelerated robotics research and development for eventual battlefield use.

The Times of India reports declassified military procurement notices and academic studies indicate that the PLA is training humanoid robots for highly dangerous building-clearing operations and enemy infiltration.

According to the YouTube channel PRO ROBOTS, rather than operating as isolated remote-controlled units, these weaponized robot dogs coordinate as a single cohesive unit via a shared digital brain and AI.

Bank of America Global Research reports Chinese developers and manufacturers accounted for about 95% of humanoid robot shipments in 2025 and the nation’s commercial mass-production capabilities have raised concerns among Western competitors.

However, China is not the only nation moving toward robot-centered combat missions, according to The Daily Wire which reports that the United States military recently tested unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs).

The Daily Wire reports that robotics systems have also become a major factor in recent conflicts around the world, including the fighting involving Iran and the war between Russia and Ukraine.

The risk of using such technology in combat — whether in drones or humanoid robots — is that AI is far less likely to distinguish civilians from combatants, according to The Daily Wire.
