DHS tracking migrant caravan traveling from Honduras to US

The Department of Homeland Security is reportedly tracking a 600-person migrant caravan that is traveling from Honduras to the United States and is expected to arrive at the U.S. border ahead of the November midterms.

The caravan, which began with just 200–400 people, departed San Pedro Sula, Honduras, on Sept. 20 and traveled north toward Guatemala. As of Monday, the caravan known as “Fe y Esperanza,” or “Faith and Hope,” is in southern Mexico, in the city of Tapachula, and heading north toward the U.S., according to Newsweek.

The department told Newsweek in a statement that the U.S. Border Patrol is “closely engaged with its international partners” to monitor the caravan’s movements and any further developments.

The caravan consists of migrants from Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, Ecuador and Haiti, the outlet reported.

The journey comes just ahead of the 2026 midterm elections in November, where Democrats are hoping to win back the Senate and House.

A massive caravan also made its way to the U.S. ahead of the 2024 elections, which consisted of more than 2,000 migrants who were fleeing from Venezuela, Haiti, Honduras and parts of Africa.
