OC Sends: IS A GLOBAL FAMINE COMING?
A valid question, for a lot of reasons. China has a population they’re having trouble feeding. They have a crumbling infrastructure. They have a surplus military age male population. If history is a guide, there’s conflict on the horizon. -NCS

General Chang: We are gonna need to starve 20 million people to feed our army.
Emperor Xi: Send the Military. String of Pearls Phase Two. Sink the Battle Carrier Groups. Bomb their airfields. FIND THEIR SUBS! If we don’t launch total war now, we will loose our people’s mandate.
General Chang: Yes. Sir.
Buy grains. They require the most labor to farm, harvest, process and store. Save yourself weeks of headache now.
You bet your sweet bippie we’re headed for a famine.
Better stock up on Beans as well as the usual Bullets and Bandaids.
Serving as an anesthetic, tranquilizer, disinfectant, stimulant… alcohol played a prominent role in pre-industrial/technical America. Both on the farm and the battlefield.
Alcohol. It was/is a sledge-hammer of a medecine, no doubt. But when the hospitals and a team of specialists aren’t at the beck and call of a “simple” cell phone… addition to reloading, gardening, physical workout, networking like minds, another card should be available in the “local deck”. Distilling. Whatcha gonna do when the law comes for you (and the grocery liquor store is no more?)
Scrounging and improvisation make “guerilla” distilling greatly possible when the basics are in your grasp. Of several books on the topic owned, one stands out in my progress for breaking into a seldom thought of “priesthood”.
“Making Pure Corn Whiskey” (A Professional Guide for Amateur and Micro Distillers) by Ian Smiley BSc
Another catch from Thrift Books.com (no financial connection to them whatsoever)
In a time where money might be an egg, a cartridge… liquor will be as fungible as gold. perhaps more so.
If booze looks good, imagine the profits to be made in weed.
If the group I’m with is resupplied with hooch and the group we have to go against is resupplied with homegrown weed… yeah, I’ll take those odds.
