Thanks for the tip on the semi-permanent use of BNC antenna connectors on our Chicom radios. I’d read from a respected poster on the Forum, that SMA connectors get lossy after ca 500 uses. Had figured it was from pin/socket wear and had not considered the wallowing of threads. I’m about religious on removing batteries and antennas when the HT is not being used. So it was a good heads up.
I had built a decent pocket tackle box kit of antenna connectors and resistors and such (a Plano brand 4″x6″, hinged, from Walmart), due to one of your earlier classes. And it was filled. Could have done the trick with SMA to PL-259 but that idea got bulky and heavy. So tonight I ordered a couple of BNC/SMA male connectors. They were in stock at Powerwerx. Those who wait may want. The Chicoms won’t be sending these bits and pieces over here forever.
