Persistent attackers denotes these guys had real enemies making their relaxed posture inexplicable. White shirt with the phone who went inside just before has to be suspect. Hero in the middle of the road deserved lead. Sadly we will see this here before long – only bigger and more drawn out engagements.

    • Johnny Paratrooper December 13, 2021 at 21:04

Nice Spot on the guy with the phone who miraculously survived.

      Very good eyes.

    • Johnny Paratrooper December 13, 2021 at 21:09

      Hood vs. Suburb vs. Rural
For days at a time. Like Baghdad.
Coming soon if we don’t right the course of this ship.
      It may be too late.

    • Boat Guy December 13, 2021 at 22:25

The older guy with the phone looked “off” to me (why’s he wandering like he’s waiting on a bus?) but the younger guys likely didn’t give it much thought. Dunno if I’da made the older guy as quickly without knowing something was coming

  2. Luke December 13, 2021 at 20:27

Holy shit…..at first thought they were just a couple guys wrong place/wrong time. Obviously there was something more to it after the initial drive by. That was indeed graphic my friend. I am still not sure what I just saw. I doubt that twitter feed will be up for long which is how I had to view it. Man o’ man that was gruesome and as violent as I have ever seen sir. They definitely pissed off the wrong people. LOL son of a bitch lol smh ughhh “EXTREMELY GRAPHIC” my ass lmao.

Sorry I don’t have any answers about improvements. Perhaps they should have been wearing an Ironman suit. All I know is if you have these kind of people after you best not be anywhere you can be found. This was relentless and brutal beyond words. Gonna watch it again after another beer. Maybe I will spot something but that is hardcore brother.

    • Johnny Paratrooper December 13, 2021 at 21:02

It’s extremely graphic by the standard.
Only since the advent of the internet has this become normative media.

      • Oldtradesman December 14, 2021 at 09:21

Bunched up, open, and zero control of access.

    • Trumpeter December 13, 2021 at 23:43

Stay out of the middle of the street. A car is not effective cover, especially the windows. Shoot and move. Move your wounded out of the line of fire. When ambushed, flank your ambushers.
Hard to be aware that the car you saw innocently parking ten seconds before the attack is another element in the ambush. Survive a few and I bet you start to pick up on stuff like that.

Oh, and the big ones. Stay away from crowds! and Nothing good happens outside your house after ten pm.

      • Randolph Scott December 14, 2021 at 08:16

You forgot to add have more firepower. Pissy little pistols aren’t going to ut it.

  3. E/325 December 13, 2021 at 20:45

They didn’t believe they were in a war zone. So, they had no security set up. They were not concerned with their situational awareness. They thought they were safe.
They were likely set up by their friend that went into the house just before the attack. Most likely they were involved in some criminal activity that they were not cognitively prepared to handle.
    You can’t fix stupid.

    • DWEEZIL THE WEASEL December 14, 2021 at 15:26

      WORD.

    • Brendon December 14, 2021 at 17:28

Truly, the most “casual” victims of drive by end of life. They had to be full of “calmative” products. Or, they had been playing COD all day and decided to respawn in the lobby. Then realized they were offline.

The white shirted guys use of highly reflective transparent air to deflect bullets ffom the middle of the road should be looked into by DARPA.

I have never been under fire. But years of playing Ghost Recon and C.O.D assures me that those guys were %100 smacked off their heads. The other guys shooting had followed Occ Health & Safety Guidelines before attending their evening shift and consumed only coffee.

  4. Rob157 December 13, 2021 at 20:48

The dead obviously did not expect that anyone was going to drop by, or they would not have been standing outside drinking beer. We can only speculate why anyone might want to shoot them, but if they expected such things, they might have wanted to have someone on watch in any case. The shooters seemed to keep the initiative, and finish the mission. The final actions of the shooters looked more like an object lesson, rather than just a gang hit.

  5. Luke December 13, 2021 at 20:51

“Sadly we will see this here before long – only bigger and more drawn out engagements” Unfortunately I think Boss is right. Those fellers coming up over the So Border are a lot more dedicated than America’s homegrown inner city youth. The ones who took the brunt of the violence not sure what they could have done other than not run their mouths on FB about where their party was going to be at. Of course they know the lay of the land and it was pretty stupid to be out there like that with such a determined enemy. I am assuming these guys had history and would be TOTALLY shocked to learn otherwise. The guys who did the assassination should have worn Trump masks so Twitter would have banned the video. Pretty wicked shit and as Boss said most likely coming to a city near you.

    • Johnny Paratrooper December 13, 2021 at 21:11

You are consistently off topic and make zero effort.

It was two pretty simply questions.

      • Luke December 13, 2021 at 21:19

Well it is impossible to say unless you know what the intel on the ground is and none of us do. Team D=Death could have done something they thought was fairly benign or they could have went over a week before and skull fucked one of their mothers’ the prior week and took $20K to boot.

Again, we don’t know what motivated it. I am sure they must have done something pretty flagrant to warrant that response but some of those L American gangs it doesn’t take a whole lot from what I understand. It’s a birthday party and if I don’t have anyone looking for me I am at relative ease. If I have pissed someone off (and I have) then I much more cautious. Been in both spots and I prefer the one where no one is out looking for me.

        • NC Scout December 13, 2021 at 21:22

“Well it is impossible to say unless you know what the intel on the ground is and none of us do.”

Wrong. This is where training comes in.

          Not bullshitting in comments sections.

        • Johnny Paratrooper December 13, 2021 at 21:28

          Intel on the ground?
We have a preliminary police press release after processing the crime scene, and 480p video with sound…
Automatic weapons, at least two vehicles…

Nothing? Not one word on tactics? What kind of ambush was this?

          “Pincer” maybe?

          Ambush by type?

          Near? Far?

          Complex? Simple?

One man, Boss21, even had the eyes to note that the lone survivor received a phone call seconds before the attack and took cover…

I mean… You didn’t even try. At all.

      • boss21 December 13, 2021 at 21:19

JP, Lol, flashback to my old First Sergeant. Thanks for the compliment above but really , everyone needs to get their brain in gear.

      • DirtNasty December 13, 2021 at 21:22

Honestly this guy consistently post the most retarded and annoying shit. Also why do you jock Trumps nuts so much?

        • Roave December 14, 2021 at 17:57

Not worthy of any of my attention, why I refrein from reacting and reading his shite.

  6. Boon December 13, 2021 at 20:58

Oblivious of any threat, poor location to gather, zero situational awareness, no leadership, no movement, poor shooting posture, no training, couldn’t hit a bull in the ass with their weapons, failure to attempt to take cover, no spotter(s), no backups and they may have thought they were bad enough just carrying. Obviously they had no plan…

    • Johnny Paratrooper December 13, 2021 at 21:03

      Correct, correct, and correct.
      Thank you.
      No medical plan either.
      And no armed overwatch.

      • bryan December 14, 2021 at 00:06

the guy who stood up right behind the ‘cover’ should have been fallback / flanking. maybe just assumed it was his turn to spray and pray – not realizing that it was a moving ambush ready to follow up after getting inside any survivor’s OODA.

    • Roave December 14, 2021 at 18:10

Obviously a bunch of Hollywood fans… ‘hero’ in the middle died with a bottle in his hands…replacing the gun he dropped ( after he spent only mag he had…another mistake…). They made more mistakes than
their combined digits…in short, they deserved to die.

  7. James Carpenter aka "Felix" December 13, 2021 at 21:05

Jeff Cooper would undoubtedly advise they up their gathering situational awareness a color or two.
Me? Can’t top that. But let’s try, what the heck…:
Maybe avoid places with any exposure to attack without dedicated lookout and full auto response accessible when you’ve got to know you’ve irritated the wrong people?

  8. KBYN December 13, 2021 at 21:07

If you have violent enemies, a lack of situational awareness and a failure to choose a secure meeting place can get you killed in a hurry.

Post lookouts with radios, and station them far enough out that when you’re warned, you can reach cover.

If an ambush is possible, don’t bunch up. Good grief.

  9. Madman_Actual December 13, 2021 at 21:09

Not that I expect anything more from street thugs but I guess I’ll point out what comes to mind from a strictly “tactical” view:

That was a targeted hit which means they probably had dealings with the attackers and didn’t expect a drive by.[Bad Intel]
Standing in a well lite area with no egress except inside, putting more bodies at risk.[Bad Position]
The only one that was able to react just walked out in the open and was shot in the gut by a previously unknown second attack vehicle. [Bad awareness]
No one had any sort of first aid.[Literally Retarded]

    Other lessons:

When bullets start flying, take cover and immediately return accurate fire.
    Look for other threats
Blood doesn’t fly everywhere which is why you use something clean to wipe around a body, looking for blood.
If you know you’ve made someone angry, don’t just hang out in your normal watering hole under a street light.
If you’re hit, it doesn’t mean your dead, move if you can. Preferably to relative safety.

    • Johnny Paratrooper December 13, 2021 at 21:18

Reportedly it was a birthday party.
Which was most likely known. And assumed to be target rich.

      As far as other notes.
They had no overwatch. From their position accurate fire could only accomplish so much. And as they were pinned, and flanked, they had little opportunity, if any, to make a move.

The fight was over after the first volley of gunfire. The second position was smart because they assumed the targets would react to the left of the doorway.

      A classic Pincer Ambush.

  10. James Carpenter aka "Felix" December 13, 2021 at 21:14

We will likely never know… was this the recorded murder of innocents or a dose of justice meted out.
Either way, a failed justice system invites the entrepreneurs to come out and “take care of business”.

    • Johnny Paratrooper December 13, 2021 at 21:24

Do innocent men pack heaters and blast rounds in unison down public roads?

Puerto Rico isn’t a failed justice system. It’s a failed state.

Nuevo Democrats…I’m stealing that one. :)

  11. Gray Man December 13, 2021 at 21:18

From the angle, they boxed themselves in. Building to the right of the screen, car to the 12 o’clock position. Camera must have been mounted on a wall that forms a third barrier. Possibly mounted on a pole but I’m thinking it’s some kind of barrier like a fence or wall of a building. Either way they had themselves cornered.

The hit was not a temporary beef and they were all well known to each other, or least their gangs were. So they had no security watching the approach. Approach looks fairly easy to secure. All those guys who died looked pretty relaxed. If you all have guns in your waistbands and you know you could have a hit out on you, why so relaxed? Maybe they were in what they perceived to be a safe area, which would mean, I assume, that they have considered their security situation and covering the approaches. Apparently not. Or maybe they had Paulie Gatto covering.

The attackers also had better weapons. Automatics firing into a fishbowl beat semi-auto pistols.

I don’t know, man… If I’m living in a place like PR or South America (this might as well have been Brazil or Honduras), and I’m hanging out with people who could get whacked like that, I’m most likely spending my nighttime hours inside a hard building. If I have to be out at night there, I sure as hell wouldn’t be chilling out like I do at a Sunday church BBQ lunch.

Seems to me they died of natural causes. “Natural to the line of work they was in.”

    • Johnny Paratrooper December 13, 2021 at 21:22

Reportedly it was a Birthday Party.

Judging by the sound of the gunfire, I think you are correct about the location being boxed in and the camera mounted on a wall. A simple Satellite search on Google Earth could probably answer that question.

The attackers had vastly superior firepower. Not only by volume, but by velocity. 180 Rifle cases were found at the scene.

The most important piece of this puzzle, they had absolutely zero overwatch to make this a two way fight.

      No overwatch, no victory.

  12. Luke December 13, 2021 at 21:27

    @DirtNasty…talking to me boy ;)

    All rightyyyy then.
    Excellent Dissection all around.
    I missed Stuff.

So, i’ll say “Everything” for 1000 please Alex.

    Or it could be said…
“What did they do right here?”

    Answer-Zero.

    Damn.

    imo.

    • Johnny Paratrooper December 13, 2021 at 21:43

      You ain’t wrong.
Those dudes were toast before things even started.

  14. Delroy December 13, 2021 at 21:40

I think the article said one of the victims was a suspect in numerous murders. So POd the wrong people. Not trying to make a pun, but the overkill was meant to send a message in my opinion. As to what they could have done has pretty much been said. White shirt guy was down against the building shooting not sure at what with vehicles between him and the attackers unless I couldn’t see them. Blue vehicle rolled in just before the action and I think was part of it and not a flinch from the victims; no clue to what is happening around them. I agree with above comment about the guy playing hero running into the wide open with a handgun having just heard (?) automatic weapons; Darwin award recipient. Bottom line- brutal, gang violence.

  15. No December 13, 2021 at 21:43

Stay in the shadows. Standing under a street lamp getting tan while you smoke a fag doesn’t seem worthwhile anymore. These dudes were not expecting assassins. Could have been a gang initiation. The way they made sure every killer came and thew down.

    • Johnny Paratrooper December 14, 2021 at 15:57

      Initiation?
      Perhaps.
If it was an initiation the “new guys” were well trained and experienced.

  16. Luke December 13, 2021 at 21:45

@JP….I missed the police report. Guess I got caught up in the video. And yes I saw the car that pulled in beforehand. It all looked professional/hardcore. They’re all gang bangers like I figured. Like i said its hard to tell what the motivator is unless you are part of of it. So I can’t judge the situation.

@Dirt Nasty…..come to Florida and train with me bubba. I will make myself real easy to find. I gotta mention tho I don’t train with guns; not yet. Unless you count my dick :D

    • NC Scout December 13, 2021 at 21:57

Stop it badass, youre scaring me. I’ve had DN in class.

      Have yet to see you.

    • DirtNasty December 13, 2021 at 22:04

We we all know your type! You say stupid shit because that is all you know. Try asking questions in life, if you took a census from everyone here we would all agree; you are a dumb ass. Not that I know shit but unlike you I am out there with these guy, doing! Training!

I guess the only way you will find me is by getting off your ass and taking some training courses? Maybe I am a weekend warrior but at least I am not a keyboard warrior.

  17. Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot December 13, 2021 at 21:56

From my view, the attackers did everything right…had a lookout/inside spotter, and a two wave team assault. The dumbasses that got lit up had zero security, zero situational awareness and no egress. Toast. 4 fewer POS gang bangers in the world. Who cares.

  18. boss21 December 13, 2021 at 22:07

The video quality was good enough to justify viewing on a desktop… Just saying.

    • Warren . December 14, 2021 at 10:20

It was in color, and it had sound, which is something that you rarely if ever see in convenience store cameras.

  19. Luke December 13, 2021 at 22:09

I figured I was, I can’t do it right now friend. Just picking up the basics of survival. That’s how I found you boys. Have any of you ever bought a kilo from cartel boys? There might be some things i can teach you too. If I had a crew I think training would make a lot of sense, but I alas I do not. Got some old friends coming back around here next week for Christmas. Both of the cops were military I grew up hunting with. Yeah they know. Tell DN he would do well to put two in my hat otherwise I am just here to enjoy the conversation and stories.

LOL nevermind I think he knows. :D

    • NC Scout December 13, 2021 at 22:16

      • Roave December 14, 2021 at 18:23

” Mom!!! Can you come down here and scratch my balls…can’t seem to find them…”

  20. rto-jerry December 13, 2021 at 22:14

White polo guy looks to be signaling the hit as well. Hand to back of the head, possible signal for car rolling in position? It’s 12 seconds from the time he puts his arm down till drive by light them up. 100% suspect he is in on the hit, no question.

  21. Luke December 13, 2021 at 22:21

@NC…..You’re killing me man!! You are the one that got me to watch Tailor Park Boys. I never finished but it was funny.

@DN….take it easy man, keep training and doing your thing. Maybe one day we’ll meet up and I will need your expertise to help me survive. Up until then I will just smack people over the head with my keyboard. Hey, I am a “whatever gets the job done” kinda guy.

  22. rt-jerry December 13, 2021 at 22:26

Enters the building escaping left and avoids line of fire. He sure as shit knew it was coming!

  23. Luke December 13, 2021 at 22:31

@NC….and one more thing, I wanna know how you got that pic of me Scout? That shit is supposed to be private. Has DN been sneaking over here putting sensors in my walls? He’s definitely a handsome feller though and I mean me not, DN or is that DN? Nobody can take that away from us DN ;).

Love you guys!! and Thanks for all your help!! and Bullshit too (but thats ok)

  24. hwulf December 13, 2021 at 22:59

Crazy stuff. Skinny guy in the white shirt made a huge mistake trying to be the hero. He clearly didn’t know what was going on and didn’t bother giving himself the benefit of concealment or even iffy cover behind a vehicle to find out. Unfortunately for him the blue back up vehicle made him pay for with his life. So that’s the most glaring lesson to take away: take cover!

Given the nature of the attack, being a drive by with the attackers dismounting to finish the job, as well as the status of one of the victims as apparently a seasoned gang banger, at least some of the victims likely should have counted on violence being a possibility and if not an expected occupational hazard. In the interest of self preservation, that means hardening themselves as a target. Certainly not standing in the open in a state of likely intoxication on a public road without the benefit of look outs. They were completely caught unaware from the looks of it. So that’s another lesson: if your current world is one where there’s a decent likelihood you might be the target for violence, take precautions.

Some in the comments thought the big boy might have been a tip-off for the shooters, but I don’t see that since he wandered stupidly into the line of fire after the initial drive by.

I wonder what the outcome might have been had skinny white shirt, big boy, and grey shirt decided to drag a couple of the guys inside instead of what they did do. There certainly was enough of a lull to at least pull the guy nearest the doorway in as the shooters were dismounting. The article says rifle shells were found, but it looks like that all the shooters were using pistols adapted to fire full auto. I could be wrong but the new media is notoriously bad at reporting on firearms. Anyways, I’m guessing glocks with the conversion back plates from the looks of it. Even the shooter in the black hoody at 1:30 looks like he is using one of those conversion kits (like FAB defense) that fit a glock into a smg type form factor. If they were shot with pistol caliber weapons, it’s possible that one or more of them could have survived the initial drive by. Being inside they would have stood a better chance at repelling the attackers since at least skinny white shirt was armed.

  25. DingDong December 13, 2021 at 23:01

I think white t shirt guy may have been their overwatch(not very good at it). The initial volley of fire he was not hit nor was he in camera view. Heroically(stupidly) he runs after ambush car #1. Clearly he had tunnel vision and ran right out into the coverless intersection only to be blasted by ambush car #2. Ha Ha surprise we got bullets for you too!

I felt happy for him that he never dropped his cell phone even though he was in the fight of his life. After getting torso shot he runs back to his buddies and lays down to die dropping his empty pistol(probably had no other magazines) but again heroically he still holds his cell phone. Maybe he had God on the line asking if he could come up now.

The most important lesson one should learn from this is don’t hang out with a bunch of fuckheads. I can guarantee both ambushers and ambushes were all a bunch of fuckheads.

  26. DingDong December 13, 2021 at 23:07

Edit upon further review white t shirt guy was not holding a cell phone it was his cerveza. I guess that’s pretty important to hold onto during a gun fight. He didn’t even get to finish it.

  27. WALTER MITTY December 13, 2021 at 23:09

The blue car that pulled out after the initial hit must have been keeping tabs on the party and probably was in communication with the guys in the hit car. This seemed to be well planned out indicating the killers new who would be at the party and when the party would occur.
As others have commented the guy in the glasses walked back in the building at a rather opportune time. This hit probably made as retribution or to send a message. It was personal
indicated by the shots fired up close, almost as if to punish the victims as well as kill them.
It almost seems as if the killers expected a more robust response by the party goers and when that did not happen , they re-grouped, reloaded? and then pressed forward. The killers did not appear to be trained in military tactics, but violently and swiftly executed their plan and had superior
firepower with one automatic rifle and at least two fully auto pistols(Glocks?).
I could see this happening to a CCW holder who maybe kills an MS-13 gang member (or
other gang member) in self defense and then is targeted by the other gang members.
It appears the victims did not think they were in any danger or maybe were led to believe they
were not in any danger. Better intel on who might have had a beef with the victims might have led them to be better prepared.

  28. Head On A Swivel Always December 13, 2021 at 23:25

In the 1973 Weather Underground manifesto Prairie Fire it says that the soft decadent capitalists won’t be able to handle extended battle brought to their locality and will fold to the RED left hand of the devil.
Is this one a catch them when they are drunk and stoned for ambush?
Maybe have someone on watch who isn’t three sheets to the wind and well armed.
There is no safe place in Bolshevik Revolution Part 2 and no one is to be trusted.

  29. Asgardi December 14, 2021 at 00:13

Now look at it from the other angle. What did the aggressors do right, what could they have done better?

  30. Lost Driver December 14, 2021 at 00:14

Link to Google Maps for “La Lomita business, located on Los Oliques street in the Certenejas neighborhood, in Cidra”, per the American Post article linked above.

    https://goo.gl/maps/GdushUsRPSv7SaDC8

Hard for me to tell, but the shooting cam view looks like (based on the roof lines) it is the western side of the building looking north along Los Oliques street. If so, then first shooter car comes from south of La Lomita driving north along Los Oliques. There are 2 other streets intersecting near La Lomita; C. Azuena from the west (possibly where the second shooter car comes from) and Cll Los Cipresses from the east. Plus an alley on the southern side of La Lomita that appears to loop around the building.

What a security nightmare. Even with a team on the roof it would have been difficult to react before the first wave of the attack. It seems that they would have needed security down all 4 roads to have a reasonable chance of thwarting the attack.

Almost all of the comments here are great and spot on analysis- gotta love the readers of AP.
The pincer movement aspect, I think, is a great lesson. As mentioned above, the blue car was the flank/mop up crew and possibly recon. The last guy that got shot never even knew it was there- he had tunnel vision.
You have to watch it a few times to appreciate it, though gory. Hard to tell how long blue car was there but the time on target was well done. Literally wasted that whole crew using 2 separate fire teams in under 10 seconds.

  32. DakotaRumble December 14, 2021 at 00:50

That was horribly sloppy and not in the way where you need to hold back hair… Lot of good points in the comments. One I see nobody hit on was the obvious “Gun Free Zone” was not posted, would have kept all of this from happening… not. Team Blacktop Sealant had absolutely no situational awareness to start. Either just complacent or too intoxicated to care. Assuming they had at least four and if all armed, they could handle what’s needed. Sticking to shadows and not wearing bright colored clothing at night helps if you’re concerned that someone may be looking for you (Or just in general, you never know what you’ll end up in these days). The guy in white who ran out in the street after the first car seemed pretty well under the influence. Thought process was skewed and coordination off. I don’t think he set his drink down the whole time until laying down behind the vehicle. Don’t impair your senses when out, even if you have a team. They rely on you and you rely on them. Also the alcohol will thin your blood and you’ll bleed out faster. Yes, the Blue vehicle was a backup, for some who were questioning. the rear door was open and fired upon the white shirt guy as he attempted to retaliate on the initial vehicle. I don’t believe that vehicle was the spotters for the hit. As someone else stated, the older man in the light colored polo was acting odd and in a hurry with that phone call. Horrible position for easy in and out quick access by others with the obvious vehicle driving through. Could have easily just been run over with a vehicle. If anything at least be close to where you can get in to cover fast… like one step. Unfortunately most people don’t think of life that way, it’s going to be a hard lesson for many when this type of action becomes the norm here in the states (or at least outside of the cities).
Team Drive By spent way too much time there as well as returning multiple times. They had almost everyone on the ground instantly. Could have stopped just long enough to finish it, even with the white shirt guy basically flanking them. He didn’t seem to be aware of what happened until walking in to where his guys were, at which point the second car could have dealt with him quick and left. That also displays the effectiveness of shot placement and using a pistol cartridge instead of a rifle. Looked like all of the guys were still alive and moving after the initial burst/drive by. The whole deal could have easily been handled from the dark side of the parking lot with a few rounds from a couple rifles in a matter of seconds. Definitely appears to have been a desire to leave a message, the way they decided to come back and unload the mags in everyone. With the price of ammo, that was an expensive outing.
Celebrations draw attention. Word of mouth travels fast. Whomever you keep around you, you’ll have to make sure they are on the same thought plane as you on awareness, location and who/what others are around you. My entire life, I’ve always tried to get my friends to think more strategically instead of being oblivious bums that just stand there… Never worked. I have spent the last ten years attempting to get my family to be aware of the change in direction our country has been heading, with no avail. I pray we don’t have to deal with this here in our Country, but it’s way too late. With the amount and quality of people who have been allowed to just come in and get bused and flown all over the country, we are in for some shit. However, I’d rather have it happen now, while we still have some semblance of fighting spirit left (Even though watching everyone around me wear their dust masks for two years, it wouldn’t appear there’s many left). As well as the trained men and women who have survived the last 20 years of combat and understand exactly what is going on and are acting accordingly.

If the wrong ppl want you dead, they will follow up. Hitter guys nailed it I’d say, they meant business. Flip the script, fuck team defense, watch what went right and it’s an easier lesson all around.

  34. Captain Mike December 14, 2021 at 01:03

I think they forgot to take the guns and ammunition after killing them. They also forgot to take a snort of gunpowder from the gun barrels after they were done shooting… Helps to enjoy the feeling more… Fuck man what a waste of gun smoke.

    • St. Leibowitz December 14, 2021 at 14:44

Looting the guns, while cool in Fallout and prepper novels, would’ve led to a much-increased risk of Team Drive-by leaving forensic traces. And it doesn’t look like they were wanting in the firepower department. There was simply no reason to do it.

  35. Zorost December 14, 2021 at 03:48

No expertise in tactics, but I had some thoughts on strategy.

Both sides screwed up majorly by participating in an “eye for an eye that leaves everyone blind” conflict. The attacked should not have been socializing and screwing around when enemies are in any sort of situation that allows them to hit you. The attackers should not have had just 1 hit squad out that night, they should have had an “end of every Godfather movie” type sweep of all potential threats.

Both sides should strive to exterminate the other side, not just fight them. If that is not possible in a timely manner, they should come to some sort of agreement. By engaging in a drawn-out war of attrition they are weakening each other while potential 3rd parties are growing stronger. Example: the war between the Byzantine and Persian empires that allowed a bunch of illiterate camel jockeys to conquer both weakened empires.

  36. thesouthwasrght December 14, 2021 at 06:03

No real tactics here other than superior firepower against a soft target. Although stopping down the way and returning is a new ploy and one the targets evidently didnt expect, hence the complete lack of effort at getting away or taking better cover to defend themselves after the opening act.

I’m assuming the long arms to be AKs of some sort,a time tested tool and one worth having. The G18? An uncontrollable mag dumper.

    • Johnny Paratrooper December 14, 2021 at 16:04

Truthfully it sounded like a G3 or FAL. Though that is not an ideal weapon for vehicle use, it can be done. And it was firing fairly quick for an AK. As Greyman mentioned, there may have been a wall. And judging by the sound on camera, I wouldn’t be surprised.

Hard to say. There may have been a poor translation from Spanish to English during the press release. Your Average Cop and nearly all Reporters are not gun guys. That’s a Hollywood Myth to help with plot, character count, and to keep an episode on TV 21-39 minutes long.

  37. agentbuzz December 14, 2021 at 06:51

    1) They ignored the blue car approaching from bottom of hill. Five guys, and they didn’t even look at the car or the people in it.
    2) The two guys separate from the five guys barely sought cover and concealment after the red car passed by.
    3) The blue SUV was part of the ambush, and two of the guys left standing walked right into the kill box in the street. All their attention was on the red car.
    4) The guy in the white shirt turned his pistol sideways and didn’t even aim. He should have at least moved behind the quarter panel of the gray car, but he stood up with only window glass to protect him.
    5) The guy in the doorway ignored the continuing threat down the street and started talking in a normal voice to the wounded without attempting to drag them inside.
    6) When the attackers rallied, nobody even tried to close the door to the house.

  38. Tom December 14, 2021 at 07:24

Several lessons learned. If you get ambushed, get off the X. Stay away from where they expect you to be. Always assume the fight is not over, so change positions rapidly and call police or your backup. Swing a wide perimeter to secure the area and pick up on anyone hanging around.

Also look at how many guys were mortally wounded but still able to fight. Notice that two head shots popped hats off and stopped those guys immediately.

Attackers had the advantage of surprise at first but going back afterwards was a bad move, since the area had been activated and they no longer had the advantage of surprise.

Friendly fire was a significant danger since wounded guys were firing from behind while the white shirt guy walked into the open and got blasted by someone in a second car. Also the guy who walked out of the building almost got shot by a wounded guy on the ground.

If the defenders had at least one rifle, they might have been able to repel the follow up attack, keep them farther away for long enough time to change their minds. This combined with getting off the X would have been different than what the attackers expected, and could have perhaps changed the outcome for one or two guys.

    • Johnny Paratrooper December 14, 2021 at 16:07

There is no “Staying of the X” in an ambush. The defining characteristic of an ambush is that it’s in a “likely” time and place, but it could occur anywhere at any moment.

The men who initiated the Ambush were the ones who “Got off the X” as the saying goes. And they did it right. The whole event was about 50 seconds long.

As far as returning to kill? Hitmen don’t get paid for wounded victims. You need cold bodies. Not wounded witnesses.

Those men (The Victims) sealed their fates when they returned fire.

      • Tom December 15, 2021 at 12:22

Good points, I think I used the term get off the x differently than what is the conventional definition. What I meant was, if you get ambushed, and then the attackers leave or get distracted, then you should move. This is preferable to staying in the place where you were ambushed and fighting from there or calling up EMS from there. Move and then reassess.

For the attackers, it would be better to get the job done in one go, vs returning to mop up.

The drive by was seemingly effective in this situation, but was it really the best option? What if some other car pulled out and blocked the exit? What if the driver gets shot? A better plan maybe… if the assassins placed a vehicle on each end blocked both exits of the parking lot, then did their op on foot, then ran to either getaway vehicle. That way they have two different escape routes.

  39. Mllo Mindbender December 14, 2021 at 07:35

The only way I see an improvement in the “victims” situation would have been a better choice in friends/hang outs. They were illuminated, intoxicated, unaware, and exposed.
If somebody has that big a beef with your friends, that’s the chances you takes.
The “hit team” appears to have had inside Intel, and came prepared to do their business, the home team had beers, and smokes and was prepared for nothing.
I would hope that my “Spidey senses” would keep me out of the crossfire, but if I was there, and partying with my friends, not sure my response would be much more positive, alcohol and firearms make a bad combo just like car keys and alcohol don’t mix well.
Even with an overwatch of “Roof Koreans” the attackers would have had initiative, and appear to have been sending a message.
They did not enter the party, or target anyone not standing with the main goal.

Lots of good observations made, that i can not expand upon other than none appeared to be wearing any soft/hard armor….

If i were to be part of a gang engaged in sketchy shit, dealing with other sketchy motherfuckers, and know that everyone is packing, i would not go to the john w out armor on, let alone hang out with my homies on the corner w/out hard plates….

    That’s just me…

    \\YMMV

    • Johnny Paratrooper December 14, 2021 at 16:12

In a static fighting position, or a dynamic one such as this could have been but clearly was not, Armor makes sense.

Armor would have saved these men from getting wasted so quickly as none appeared to be shot anywhere but center mass to my eyes.

The poor guy with his back to the car looked like he took about 15 rounds of High Velocity point blank and kept fighting to the very end.

  43. Tetra December 14, 2021 at 10:42

initial thoughts: this could be anywhere in the U.S. speaking of OPSEC, overwatch and threat level assessments how would these people have any idea they were targeted for a hit? IF they had ANY idea there may be a threat, THEN of course steps needed to be in place. but I guess what we’ve been seeing and hearing the last few years, as Aesop always said…”avoid crowds”. Wakusha happened, so I guess moving up to a constant threat level means not allowing complacency even for a few beers in front of 7-11. I hope I stayed within the parameters of the discussion JP. thanks for the post, it was eye opening.

    • wwes December 14, 2021 at 11:11

  44. The Old Freedom Fighter December 14, 2021 at 11:44

What you just witnessed in the video was actually commonplace here in the US from the early 1920’s up until the end of Prohibition in 1933. Keep in mind those gangs were just as ruthless & violent as the ones today. They just dressed a lot better and did their job with a little more class and professionalism. One of the first rules of combat to espionage to organized crime is never ever, under any circumstance, make yourself vulnerable. You just saw what happens when you ignore it, you get plugged.
Great comments & yes, I’m taking notes.

As far as Prohibition, let me say this. All four of my grandparents lived through it as adults. Heard some great stories & then some.

  45. Shawn December 14, 2021 at 15:26

The way I see it that team A the aggressors were certainty on a seek and destroy mission. Team B were either cocky, stupid, new to the gang warfare scene, incompetent or all the above. Team A tactics were not that impressive because they could have simply dispatched this group by foot more swiftly and quickly with the get away car parked further away or on another street in much less time . Taking an objected usually is done with a coordinated frontal swift attack not a drive by and coming back to do clean up. If team B were experienced Team A might have been successful but departed with a few casualties. Team A seemed to be much better armed with fully auto weapons’ compared to team B which might imply team A were possibly much better funded gang compared to team B. Team B felt they were safe having a few suds in a well lit up area outside some small cantina probably unaware they pissed off some real serious gang in the local area. As for Team A’s tactics. never under estimate your enemy. If team B were more serious and experienced, team A would have not gotten away so lucky. In a SHTF type scenario it is better to go in more cautious.

How do one (or 6 men) walk around with AK/FAL’s on foot in the middle of Puerto Rico?

      • Shawn December 14, 2021 at 17:57

Easy. Conceal in long coats or baggy cloths with folding stock AK/FAL’S or the shadows do well in hiding ones movement. Get close enough by hiding in the shadows and spring the trap quickly wearing light running shoes. These guys looked as if the could have been taken over by a loud diesel Simi riding up to their location. Also they wont have to travel far from a strategically positioned get away car. Before any assault is planned and carried out is first implemented by a carefully detailed and planned recon.

        • Johnny Paratrooper December 14, 2021 at 18:01

Long coats on a tropical island?
A staged getaway car requires security and the potential of failure to reconnect with.

          • Shawn December 14, 2021 at 18:42

Obviously you didn’t observe closely what the aggressors were wearing. To me they don’t look as if they were lounging around a hot sandy beach. This mission could have bee accomplished in 2 minutes with a well planned assault without the need to guard a get away car for a long period of time.

Is one guy in white shirt shooting with his drink still in hand or was he filming with phone?!

    • Johnny Paratrooper December 14, 2021 at 16:35

Weird stuff happens when you get shot or suffer from a hard blunt force trauma. He may not have been able to release the beer/phone.

Remember the Kenosha Shooting? Dude got hit in the arm and still held his pistol?

I clipped a tree branch once on a motorcycle(With Helmet) and it run my bell well enough. Couldn’t release the handlebars no matter how much I wanted too. Went down like a hammer.

I have seen college kids get rocked by blind side haymakers and still hold onto their phone the whole time.

I used to know the name for this phenomenon. Bracken might remember. I have heard him mention it.

I think it has to do with the para-sympathetic nervous system kicking into gear during the adrenaline dump.

  47. James December 14, 2021 at 17:01

I get it,all sorts of weirdness can lead to well……,weird things.I dumped a dirt bike on RR tracks at 80(VDO speedometer) and did not let go.Someone either hated the bikes/trains and put a big ole log on tracks.I actually walked from it with a few cuts, only thing holding front end onto rest of frame was me clutch cable!Ah,the invincibility of youth, though many decades in the rear view mirror now!

Thing I found weird is do not believe he was hit till he went down street shooting,if the drink that good I want what he is drinking, just in me own neck of the woods!

Seems from article like this is a on going war/issue.

It is here in America with gang shootings/lunatics shooting up schools ect.

I did daily dry fire after reading this, can’t hurt!

  48. coelacanth December 14, 2021 at 21:39

Not in that kind of business, never have been, have no experience with it. Appreciate the comments and analysis above. Couple of things to maybe add- the white shirt guy had his arm up and his wrist near his ear. Watch band was pretty broad – kinda like the Apple Watch. He could have been in position to hear it, although he seemed to be waiting to get the pad they were passing around

That’s a narrow street in the kind of neighborhood where everyone knows everyone else, and what they drive. The blue car pulling in and turning around should’ve drawn some attention.

Shooters got out, finished off the guy by the door, white shirt guy was potentially targetable but wasn’t. Shooters appeared to regroup at the vehicles and returned to make a statement, one guy even being encouraged to shoot the already downed. Why didn’t they enter the building and finish the job? They had the initiative. There was a really skinny dude in the doorway just before the shooting started who disappeared when white shirt guy went in. What’s his role?

Also kinda interesting that the camera footage has been posted. Who posted it and why? It certainly isn’t flattering to the guys who got shot and it’s presumably their area. And it has audio as well as video, while being perfectly positioned to record the whole thing.

Thanks again for your analysis. Always get a lot out of your posts.

  49. Historian December 15, 2021 at 22:55

A number of worthwhile comments on the tactics or lack thereof.

One thing not commented on is light levels. Attackers were largely in shadow until delivering the final ‘coup de grace’; the ambushed were in a well lit area. Worse, many of them were wearing light colored clothing. Bad juju for you to be the lighted target. So that is one thing the attackers did right and the ambushed did wrong. And nobody turned off the lights!

Most of the weapons I saw were shortbarreled; I saw one rifle, although I think I did hear at least three in play on the attacker’s side. Given the lack of recoil I’m thinking some of the SB full autos may have been .380 or .32? Not sure.

The guys with the long guns knew how to deliver effective fire, and their pincer attack also demonstrates training. Attackers had disproportionate numbers as well. I think I saw 3 on each wing, but not sure.

    Educational. Thanks, JP.

So there was no blue car approaching from the bottom of the hill, or rather, the dark blue car that entered the scene was not involved and was parking. The lighter blue car that came back from the same direction was either already there or coordinated with the red car to enter the scene simultaneously.

the dark blue car entering and the light blue car leaving and shooting are different cars. no time/space to flip a u-turn.

The old guy in the white shirt was not spotting. He was just a clueless dude on his phone. If anyone was spotting, it was the guy in the red shirt in the doorway, who may have been texting on his phone. He was gone before the drive by. The old guy was almost shot about three times, so he was not spotting.

The skinny guy in the white shirt who “fought” back was out of range for the red car. That is why he survived – a bit. He died because he refused to drop his beer and take cover. He dropped his gun before he dropped his beer.

The three guys in black in the group bled out right there. the one streetside was dying but tried to fight and got dead-checked through the top of his hat. There was another in black who went off screen to the lower right and never came back. The skinny guy came from lower off screen, uninjured, only to get himself killed.

The guy in the white shirt/jeans shorts by the doorway was just shooting. He almost shot two or three people going in and out of the door, but it looks like he never had a clear shot at anybody else.

The women inside helped a lot by screaming and crying.

    That is a reality check.

First lesson imho is to party on the roof. No chance on the street. For defense (assuming you’re still alive) that doorway was the game. I’d get on the other side of the fatal funnel and be ready for someone to come through. On the attack side, seems like they did a pretty good job. Not sure why they came back on foot like that, they were definitely cautious on approach but still could have gotten it if they weren’t dealing with idiots. Note they did not go through the door, probably knew what doors are (fatal funnels).
