America Needs to Make a U-Turn: Not a Right Turn or Left Turn, by Scipio
Lord, we have become complacent and negligent in our relation to you. Faith has been replaced with structure. We have developed programs without impact. We have compromised the good news of your love and salvation with the demands of the dominant decadent culture. We have developed mega churches with mega visibility with minimum influence. Attendance at our houses of worship decrease every year while at the same time the world is filling the seats of false temples seeking spiritual significance in alternative spiritualities.
Wars and rumors of wars increase daily while the promise of the so-called “peace dividend” is “memory-holed.” Despair and desperation are on the faces of the people that scurry past us throughout the day. We have abandoned your admonition “If my people …” (II Chronicles 7:14) and offer that you made to us, and we have abandoned our patriotic forefather’s legacy when they boldly proclaimed, “When in the course of human events…” Thus, we find ourselves in the situation we are in today.
Until we return to those spiritual and secular principles, everything we do in the political, educational, judicial, institutional, military, and social arenas are futile. America was once a shining concept more so than a nation and an unbelievable opportunity for those around the world because of what we stood for and what we acted upon.
Today America is a declining empire hollowed out because of its abandonment of her Judeo-Christian Western Civilization roots.
We need to read again Jonathan Edwards’ sermon, “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God” again and fall on our faces before the living and merciful God. We need to hear again the desperation in Patrick Henry’s passionate speech “I know not what course others may take but as for me, give me liberty or give me death.”
We need to live according to God’s expectations for the peace and prosperity that we all desire among all tribes and peoples as God spelled it out through the prophet Micah. The Biblical book Micah in chapter 6 verse 8 tells us, “God has showed you, mankind, what is good; exercise justice, embrace mercy, and walk, humbly with God.” Jesus summarized these instructions when he said in the book of Matthew chapter 22, verses 37-49, “Jesus replied. ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.’ And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Most of all we need to reflect on the goodness of our creator and his love for his creation. We need to demonstrate that tangibly to a suffering and desperate world. We need to make a U-turn, not a right turn or a left turn.

Spot on! It is the only answer. There is no political solution to America’s spiritual problem.
YO! AFFIRMATIVE!
Humankind is a combo-unit: body, mind, soul, and spirit. We have dallied too long on the body-shop and creature comforts. Mere looks. We have starved the soul and spirit–the true HIGH POWER ENGINES of life!
FREE POWER WASHING, NOURISHMENT, and TURBO-CHARGING — FOR ALL!
Pull into the “pit stop” of the Alpha and the Omega Team — Captain: Jesus Christ:
“But whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a fount of water springing up to eternal life.” Jn 4:14
“It is finished! I am the Alpha and the Omega—the Beginning and the End. To all who are thirsty I will give freely from the springs of the water of life.” Rev 21:6
Amen brother! Much gratitude for this post.
Amen
Wonderful post! Well done, Sir.
And everyone said Amen and Amen
Amen. A U-turn (also called repentance) to Jesus Christ, and away from everything opposed to Jesus Christ is the only way to avoid ruin. I’m striving to that end in my own life.
Now, I have a nitpicky comment. “Judeo-Christian” is a nonsense propaganda term. What you really mean is “Biblical”. Christians and Jews share the Torah, but not the Talmud. I think the phrase “Judeo-Christian” downplays the sincere faith of both Christian and Jew, and most importantly dishonors the Lord Jesus Christ.
Also our dear Roman Catholic brother encouraging people to read Jonathan Edwards. Nice 👍
Agree all, Tater7. Good calls.
Amen and amen.
