I thought Fort Hood was the largest base in the Free world?

Maybe? I don’t know. I have only been to a couple camps, FOBs, Forts, and Bases.

I believe Hood is largest by land size and Bragg by size of personnel.

      • Jeff Glad January 7, 2022 at 15:52

Hood more than 50,000 acres larger than Bragg.

        This makes sense.
I wonder what metric they used for the headline.
Perhaps Bragg is, by averages, the largest.
Not necessarily the largest by footprint.

    https://www.aks.com/5-largest-military-bases-in-the-world/

“Located in North Carolina, Fort Bragg is also known as “the center of the military universe.” It has a total population of about 260,000. 53,700 active troops and 14,000 civilians work at the post and almost 10% of all army forces have an assignment there. The total area of the base is 251 square miles, with the post itself being 19 square miles. With its active and civilian population, Fort Bragg is the largest military base in the world and it’s still growing.”

Did lots of PT back in the day running/rucking tank trails off Son Tay where our shops were….
